Question: Should I try out for my high school dance team!?
I'm in 8th grade but at the end of the year there are dance team tryouts for the high school that i will be going to!. my sister was on it all 4 years of high school!. she was one of the best ones on there but she doesn't want me to try out!. all they do is shake their butts and do a bunch of other slutty lookin stuff!. i don't know why but i still want to try out!. my mom wants me to do it!. the coach use to be one of my old dance teachers but i switched studios and she pretty much hates me now!. i want to try out and see if i make it because i'm good or i don't make it because she hates me!. the hardest thing i have seen them do is splits!. they don't do any type of turns or any really hard jumps!. i don't know what to do!. any advice!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

honestly, i don't think you should do it!.
if you really have a passion for dancing, you would stay at your studio!.
high school dance teams that just shake their butts and be slutty shouldn't appeal to you if you're a real dancer!.
and don't just do it because your mom says you should or because you want to prove to your coach and your sister that you can do it!.
do it because you actually feel something when you dance like that!.
i actually quit my high school dance team because that's all they did!.
it wasn't what i was passionate about!.
so now i'm working to be a lyrical dancer because i feel something when i dance!.
i hope you make the right decision for yourself!.
do what you think will make YOU happy, not anyone else!.

being on a team isnt just dancing!.!.
its meeting new people for high school and having something to do!.
if you know you want to try out, then go for it!.ignore your mother and your sister!.just do what you want!but be sure to look at the other activities in high school because it will prob take up a lot of your time!.

I think you should try out!. Your sister probably thinks that it was her thing!. Now you want to be in it shes probably angry!. It cant hurt anyone if you try out anyway!. Then you old dance coach could see how you really can dance!. I think you should!. if you do Good Luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You sound just like my daughter :-) I say go ahead and try out!. I agree with the person who answered that your sister probably thinks it was her thing!. Why would she have done it for all four years if she didn't like it!? About the switching studios, there is so much nonsense about that!. My daughter did the same thing at the end of last year!. I told my daughter that as far as loyalty goes, it doesn't apply when you're paying for the classes!. It's a business arrangement that wasn't working for us!. The studio wasn't working for her and I didn't like the direction the studio was going in!. The director was expanding at such a fast rate she wasn't giving her students her all!. It felt like the director was most motivated by money!. About the slutty dancing, well, that's unfortunately the way it is in a lot of dance groups!. I went to one competition with my daughter when she was at her previous studio where there were 9 year old girls dancing in under-wire bras and booty shorts - no joke!. YUCK! You'll need to decide if the school team is too provocative - my daughter's isn't!. The girls are mostly good models!. The coach insists on decent behavior and that they have no tardies, unexcused absences or dress code violations!. One of the team captains from last year is at one of the most exclusive universities in the country studying math!. Guess that defies a few stereotypes!!! Www@QuestionHome@Com
try out what have u got to lose!. I mean when go in there expect not to get it that way ur A)shocked if you make it and B) not let to far down if u dont!. That always helps me!. Dancing in the dance team isnt really about the dancing honestly its about the group of girls that u'll hang around!. Yeah they may not exactly be the best role models at times but chances are they practice during the summer so u'll have friends not in ur grade before u get into high school which helps a LOT!
