Question: Best ways to treat Achilles tendinitis from dancing!? !?
I having been dancing for a long time, and got on pointe about a year ago!. My achilles tendon has be hurting recently, especially when I am up on pointe on one foot!. My dance teacher told me to put my feet in ice water for about 10-15 minutes, and then switch back and forth from the ice water to hot water for 5 minutes each!. It feels better right after I do it, but after a couple of hours it doesn't seem to help!. I also have been massaging my heel but that doesn't seem to help either!. Any ideas on how to treat this!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

u have aachilles tendonitis!! ouch! i have personal experience with this and trust me do not mess around with it!. first and most important thing to do is go to a phyisical therapist!. it really helps he or she will show u excersizes and u will have to do some sessions but once u have it its hard to get rid of w/o going to pt!. i know it hurts really bad!. rub and massage the back bottom of ur leg and press hard up and down on it!. ice helps!. rap it up with athletic tape!. ice it!. if ur teacher understnds tendonitis, then when u tell her i dont think i should go on pointe she wont make u!. and also avoid jumps and running!. just dont ignore it cuz it will just get worse andd that means more money going towards physical therapy!. ok well hope i helped!

also get elasto ribbons!. it gives more support and helps prevent tendonitisWww@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not sure!. You should probably goto the physio or doctor to get it sorted!. And buy elasto ribbons for your pointe shoes!. You know the kind with a strip of elastic sewn in the middle of the ribbon!? They are specially designed to protect your Achilles!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
