Question: Nutcracker Ballet Help QUICK!!!!?
I'm trying out for a nutcracker angel!.!.!.help! I'm a beginning ballerina and some friends and I are going to try out for the Nutcracker THIS SUNDAY!. I have taken classes when I was four through six but have dropped it for the past eight years!. I have been picking it back up again these past few months, taking classes, practicing as much as possible, and having my friend help me (she's done ballet for 5 or so years)!. I pick things up slowly though, but once I get it I'm usually very good!. We're trying out for the part of the angels and if there are any past Nutcracker angels I would love some input on what to expect for tryouts, how difficult the parts will be, am I ready!? What kinds of things will I need to know and do for tryouts!? Maybe some routines (or whatever they're called :)) would help!? Anything you could do would be wonderful!. Thank you very, very much :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i understand your panic, auditions are tough but here are some tips that have really helped me out in ballet!.!.!.
1) if your in a line up or center stage get in the front row! even if you mess up a little they will love your courage
2) if you mess up, keep going, if you were on stage the only people who will know is the other dancers, if you make a graceful save you will impress everybody
3) if you think you are doing the step right but the person next to you is doing something else, do whatever your instinct says, nobody wants to watch an uncertain dancer
4) if you don't already know the teacher hosting auditions, and if you are brave enough, introduce yourself quickly
5) if you don't understand the choreography, ask, most teachers will treat this in a positive manner
6) pay attention to the music, notice the little accents, and focus on your musicality, a key essential in classical ballet
7) if you have strong technique, utalize it, show off your long legs, high arch, graceful neck, or facial expressions, whatever is too your advantage, go full out and hold nothing back
8) and most importantly, don't walk in and go to the corner to stretch or whatever, walk in chin held high, and have a sense of confident demanding presence!. it will make you noticeable, and feel free to talk to some of the dancers before hand to get a feel for the place!.

the Nutcracker is a lot of fun, and i hope you make it! i hope my tips were helpful in some form, and best of luck, my fingers are crossed!Www@QuestionHome@Com

yeah i was an angel before!.!.!. the angels in the production i used to do were young though!.!.!. i was in 2nd grade!.!.!. !.well maube i can still help!. Our dance wasn't too hard, but we had to smile angelically and well our routine was like run and twirl and it was quite flowy and spinny, and well there were "big girls" en pointe who were called "angelicas" and they were like the big angels, so mabyeb , well i dont know just good luck!!!!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I cannot answer the question as to the skills you have as compared to what the teacher/choreographer wants!. Same as to how hard it will be!.

We used the angels in one production, but they were little (like 3-5 yrs old) and they just walked on stage!.

Be confident in your dancing, that will help you in your audition!.

Here are some videos: (they are a little young, but may give you an idea of what to expect!.
