Question: Is starting ballet lessons at 18 a good idea!?
When I was very young (from age 5 to 7) I took dance classes!. However, I quit when I was seven, and have really regretted that choice recently!. I actually just turned 18 at the beginning of October, and for some reason I really want to take ballet lessons!. Would it be a bad idea to start now, when I am 18!? I know there are such things as adult classes, but I am not even remotely familiar with anything about ballet!. Plus I am extremely clumsy, and there is not a single graceful bone in my body (I‘m always tripping over my own feet or finding some way to fall down!), but I just cannot get ballet of the brain!. Does anyone have any advice or even similar experiences to share that could help me make a good decision on what to do!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well I have just started ballet and I am 19, my friend joined last year too and she is 28!. I went to a few adult class and then joined the ballet society in uni because it was cheaper!. It is better here because the teacher works us harder and points out our mistakes!. If you have a class that you can join e!.g!. an adult or beginner teen class then it shouldn't be a problem!.

You are never too old! The only issue is you may have to work harder for flexibilty, but you have to do that anyway!.
I recommend getting a few dvds to watch before or after lesson!. You can buy some really cheap ones on amazon!. I bought some for 5-7 year olds or about £2 and one called Simply Ballet by Bob Rizzo which is very good!.
I bought Simply Ballet by Bob Rizzo - good
Classical Ballet - From Dreams to reality - ok
The video dictionary of classical ballet
first steps in ballet £1 from ebay
Ballet class for beginners by david Howard - goes a bit fast

I am also starting gymnastics and I can't even do a handstand so I say go for it!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's never to late to do something you feel passionate about!. I almost gave up on dancing!. I always felt like I wasn't good enough but, with encouragement of friends and family didn't give up!. I'm now dancing with a great company, of all working adults, some with families, in every shape, and size!. I'm 26 and my dancing and my love for it is stronger than it's ever been!. Start with adult beginners classes, I'm sure you'll do great!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it will be good for your health but it might be very hard because many 18 year olds who take dance are very far along and it would be hard to catch up unless u worked really hard!. It might be helpful to have a couple private lessons first just so u dont look like a complete idiot!.

it's a great idea!
it's never too late to start dancing!.
i would probably advise you to stretch as much as you can everyday, even when you aren't dancing!.
make sure to ask questions in class if you need help!.
you'll have a blast!

have fun and good luck! :DWww@QuestionHome@Com
