You're on the right track thinking of things to do to get the strain of your feet!. My first suggestion would be to break in the wings of your pointe shoes!. The wings are the area around the crown, they're basically the more pliable part of the box!. Massage this with your hands, and then, put one shoe at a time in a thick sock!. Take a cleaned off rubber mallet, and lightly beat around the area that's causing you pain!. Rubbing mild alcohol on the insides of your shoes helps loosen them up, and since it's on the inside it won't stain!. Put them on, and then put thickish socks over them, and wear them around the house!. Toe spacers would also probably help you in this situation, but consult your teacher before anything else!. It could be that you shoe is too tapered, or isn't wide enough!. Your toe is feeling numb because it's being squished!. You could try a less thick toe pad!. also remember to clip you nails very short!. If I were you I would get a different width in you soe!. Go back to where you got fitted and just work with the person!. Remember that in pointe, there will be some pain, but this is a result of the shoes not fitting properly!. Put a thick band-aid around the toe to keep it from rubbing against the soe, and causing that friction to give you a bad blister!. This could squeeze th toe and make it even more numb though!. If I were you, I'd talk to your teacher, and get refitted!. Pain is normal, and you'll have to grin and bear it, but this needs to be fixed!. As you sweat more the shoe could also possibly stretch out a tad!. Good Luck, and I hope this helped a little!. :)) Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you have gel pads that should be enough!. you may need wider shoes or you could be putting too much pressure on your pinkie toes!. if you fell like your weight falls back that way as you rise up you should shift foward so most of the weight falls on the big toe!. this shift will more evenly place weight on your foot!. also, if you just sit in your shoe that can cause problems, so make sure you are always actively pointing your fit, not just sitting in the box of your shoe and pull up out of your hips!.
if the shoes need more breaking in, wet a face cloth and wring it out then dampen your shoes while they are on!. after they are sufficiently damp (not soaking wet) walk around your house on demi pointe, for a long time!. that will help to soften the shoe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

my toes ALWAYS hurt the first time i use a new pair of pointe shoes!. but once they are broken in (for me atleast) they dont hurt at all! are you using pro pads or ouch pouches!? they go around your hole foot and really keep the pain down!. you can also get individual toe pads, and sometimes when my toes hurt (usually my big toe) i put a cotton ball at the end of my show to keep it from hurting so much!. hope i helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is expected that your feet will hurt at first, but I found that the same exact thing happened to me when I first started pointe!. It turns out that I was sitting way out on the outside of my box, leaning towards my pinky toe!. If you try to correct this and it doesn't help, try putting some lambs wool on that side!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

ok well first that stuff mihgt help but i mean come on they're pointe shoes and its kind of expected! haha but if you really want it you just have 2 deal with it! theres not much you can really do about it!. but trust me they get better after they're broken in and after your feet get used to them!. ok well i hope i helped : )

I would agree with Megan C, too!. But also, make sure your toe nails are clipped short!. When I was on pointe, I ALWAYS wrapped my toes with lambs wool especially around the pinkie toe and big toe and then I wore gel pads!. After you get used to your pointe shoes, your feet will be numb to the pain anyway :p Www@QuestionHome@Com

Toe shoes in general ARE bound to hurt I suppose, but I think it would really help you to try breaking in the part of the pointe shoe near your pinky toe!.!.!.!.also, I heard that if you use toe spacers, there is sometimes less stress on certain toes!.!.!.!.!?

Anyway, Good luck!!!! :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

hmmm, do you have tapered feet!? maybe your shoes are better for square feet!. i would suggest trying lambs wool, but it would be better if you just wait and ask the teacher!Www@QuestionHome@Com
