Question: What do ribbons on pointe shoes do!?
What do the ribbons on pointe shoes do!? Do they give you ankle support!? My teacher for some CRAZY reason wants us to take our ribbons off and use a foot brace over our pointe shoes to keep them on!. Would this be bad for you having no ribbons!? And wouldn't having a brace make it way harder to dance in!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, the ribbons are essentially just there to hold your foot in, so it wouldn't be bad for you!. However, what's wrong with ribbons!? I feel like the idea of a foot brace is ridiculous and unnecessary!. I also agree that it sounds harder to dance in!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ribbons:
Hold the shoe on the foot
Support the ankle and arch
Are aesthetically appealing

How ridiculous to use a foot support instead! It probably would be uncomfortable, and harder to dance in!. It would also look ugly!Www@QuestionHome@Com
