Question: Please help me with my ballet problems! anyone with experience!!!?
Well,
I'm 14 and i've been dancing different styles since I was 5!. I did hip hop, jazz, ballet, street, contemporary, tap!. The first problem is, I never stuck with any of them!.
Right now I'm focusing on ballet and contemporary and i know i'll stick with them!.
i love ballet so much and I have such a passion for it!. i want to dance forever and never stop!.
i don't have my pointe shoes yet, and i want them VERY badly!. i've been dancing ballet consecutively for two years now but i have also done about 4 years when i was younger!.
every two years we move because of my dads job and it is so stressful to find a new ballet studio!.
also, they always make me start from the beginning and its very stressful because i feel like ill never get my pointe shoes!.
my family isnt quite poor, but were not rich either!.
my parents can afford for me to take more than three one hour classes per week (which i am doing right now)!.
sometimes it feels like everything is just pushing me away from my goals, you know!?
people dont take me as a serious dancer because i only dance three hours a week!.
i dont know what to do because usually girls start auditions between 14 and 17 and im not even en pointe yet!.
but i want to be!.
and i feel like i am ready!.
but i have so many obstacles right in my way from my goal that now its just so stressful!.
im also not very skinny!.
im five foot 4 and i weigh about 125 pounds!.
i would love to dance as much as the other girls do!.
i know some people who take up to 14 dance classes a week and dont even appreciate it!.
i would kill to be in that position!.
but i know that my parents cant afford that for me right now!.
what do i do!?
how do i get more practice!?
what do i need to do to get en pointe!?
do i need to lose weight!?
how do i acheive my goals without putting my family in financial burden!?
(its not that were poor, we just have 5 kids and we all do sports seriously, and we have a kid in an ivy league college, so we cant get any financial aid or anything since we arent poor!.)
please help!.

sometimes i cry myself to sleep at night when i come home from ballet and another nine year old is on pointe!. its horrible!.

You cant let yourself get down!. I started pointe when i was 13 and i only took ballet 2 times a week!. Which is like nothing compared to some of the girls exactly like you describe, dance a million times a week and started pointe when they were babies :P!. if you move again or even now find a studio where they are not so strict!. My old studios used to be like that but this one i go to now is very easy going but we still do great in competitions and exams because we like it still and there not killing it for us!. But find a studio that's a bit more easy going and then you can pro bally get into a pointe class that isn't that many times a week and it will be easier to get in!. If they place you in the wrong spot tell them you have to speak up for yourself and tell them that you have more experience for this class and show them that you are comited to work hard!. You prabllay shouldnt loose wait either, youll just tottally through your emotions out of wact and trust me, you dont sound that big at all, like at all and even so there are bigger girls that do pointe at my studio and they still look jsut as good as the tooth picks!. I really hope you achieve your dreams, you sound like you want this more then ever!.

also another suggestion is if you dont want to ask to be put into a pointe class then ask to be put into exam classes for a couple years so ifyou move to a diffrent studio you can tell them you have dont high grade exams, then they will more likely put you in a higher skilled class, especially if its a bit of a smaller school!. And exam calsses are usually the ones on pointe!. If you cant just switch into an exam class work really hard this year and show your teacher you have what it takes!

I really hope your dream of going on point will come true!.

also just a side note, i though going on pointe was going to be the greatest thing on earth!. But it really isnt at all, it makes your feet hurt like hell all the time and its really hard work!.

And sorry i keep thinking of more things to say but when you do get into a pointe class you dont do it all the time you have to strengthen your feet so you could only be doing it for 10 minutes at the end of each class thats it!. Most people maybe get an hour of pointe a week if, so its something that you should be able to work at because its not for a long time!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know how frustrating it is to want to get on pointe so badly, and see other girls with their pointe shoes, and they just don't seem to care!.

Ask your teacher what you need to do to get on pointe!. ask him/her to be specific, so that you can work on what they want you to work on!. if it's strength, ask what they'd reccomend you do!. see if there's anything you can do at home!.

If it's technique, then you do need to take more classes!. Ask if there are any scholarships your school offers!. like my studio offers scholarships to the OCCASIONAL person, if they're really dedicated and promise to come to every class without fail!. so, i'd check into that!.

Good luck! i hope you get on pointe soon!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
