Question: Varsity Poms Team!.!.!.!.!.!? !?
can someone plz name all of the things that we most likely need to kno to make a varsity dance team!? I am a freshman in high school right now, and i want to try out for my schoools poms team in the spring!? how can i prepare!? what do i need to kno!?

First, STRETCH every day!. If you start now, you'll have just that much advantage over the other girls that try out!. Plus, if you have your splits, the coaches and judges will notice you even more! Flexibility really comes in handy when you're trying out for a sport like dance!. (With pom, you'll probably be doing a lot of kicks and jumps, too!.)

Second, be NICE to everyone, including the coaches!. Be careful NOT to suck up, though!. Just be outgoing and friendly, because that's what dancers do! also smile a lot, especially when trying out!.

Third, practice your TECHINQUE!. Pom dancers are extremely TIGHT with all their motions!. I used to practice flexing my muscles and abs whenever I'd hit a move, because if you're sloppy, it will not look good at all!. This applies especially to pom, since pom is all about tightness and looking sharp!. also, work on your jumps at home (if you are going to be doing jumps)!. This is where flexibility also comes into play!. The "toe-touch" is the most common, so if that particular jump is the one you should be working on the most!. also, try to work on some tumbling if you need to!. I'm not saying go flip yourself around your backyard - just do some easy stuff!. For example, work on your cartwheels, round-offs, and handstands!. Work on bridges for back flexibility, too!. If you have even a little bit of tumbling, they will notice!. You may not think dancers tumble, but in many cases, if the coaches have somone on their team that can tumble in some way, he or she will probably use that to their advantage!. Plus, you'll just be that much further ahead of the other girls trying out!
