Even though you don't have to try out, try a few things that will help you when it comes time to become a cheerleader:

First, STRETCH every day!. If you start now, you'll be that more flexible by the time cheer starts!. If you have your splits or get your splits soon, the coaches will love that! Flexibility really comes in handy when you're doing a sport like cheer!.

Second, be LOUD!. Not like, talking loud to the other girls, but when you are cheering, be louder than anyone else!. When I tried out for my team in high school, we tried out in groups of three, and I made sure that I could be heard over both of the other girls!. It worked :) (P!.S!. don't feel dumb! Cheerleaders are supposed to be loud and if you're louder than everyone else, I can guarantee the coaches will love you!. :)

Third, be NICE to everyone, including the coaches!. Be careful NOT to suck up, though!. Just be outgoing and friendly, because that's what cheerleaders do! also smile a lot, especially when cheering and trying out!. To be a cheerleader, you must be happy and perky, even when you're not!. Dance is about expression of different emotions, but cheer is about being happy and perky and spirited - you'll have to switch into that mode during every performance and game time!.

Fourth, practice your TECHINQUE!. Cheerleaders are extremely TIGHT with all their motions!. I used to practice flexing my muscles and abs whenever I'd hit a move, because if you're sloppy, it will not look good at all!. This applies especially to pom, since pom and cheer are all about tightness and looking sharp!. Since you've done pom before, you may already know how to be extremely tight, and that's good, but keep working on it, because tight is all cheerleaders know!. also, keep working on your jumps at home!. This is where flexibility also comes into play!. The "toe-touch" is the most common, so if that particular jump is the one you should be working on the most!. also, try to work on some tumbling if you need to!. I'm not saying go flip yourself around your backyard - just do some easy stuff!. For example, wrk on your cartwheels, round-offs, and handstands!. Work on bridges for back flexibility, too!. If you have even a little bit of tumbling, that helps a lot!.

Anyway, those are just the main things you should be working on until cheer starts!. Sorry it's so long! But I hope it helps :)

Good luck and remember to have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Flexibility is very important, but it sounds that you have a good skill of memorization and choreography which is great!. You need to be loud, and you need to have some skills in gymnastics!. At try-outs they usually let you know what they are looking for and most schools have a meeting before to let you know what you need to be practicing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

'im a dancer and not to brag but, well, im awesome!'
!.!.!.Your not kidding though, that's what's scary!.
