Question: Is it an advantage in ballet if you're short/petite!?
Just wanna know 'coz I read someone complaining that she's not short or she's too tall for ballet!.
What's the truth behind this!?

There is no real standard for heights or body types in ballet anymore!. It all depends on what each individual ballet company is looking for in their dancers!. If the majority of their dancers are tall, then they'll probably want to hire someone who fits that description, same for short or petite dancers!. It keeps the overall look of the company uniformed and cohesive!. Either way, if you're a good dancer, and you're in shape, that is ultimately what they're looking for!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, it doesn't really matter, but a lot of people want to be shorter-ish so that they are not taller than the man they are dancing with!. But if you are short, you learn to dance "big" so that you don't look really short!.

Well it depends on the compony!. for example New York City Ballet you have to be very tall!. Miami City Ballet is kind of average height!. hope this helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com
