Question: Lyrical jazz-a few questions!?
I've been attending lyrical jazz classes for the past month!. I'm an 18-year-old guy that had no dance experience in his past whatsoever!. It occured that those classes are not in fact complete elementary-a few girls from the group have been dancing this style with this instructor for the past year!.So she obviously makes harder choreographies!.

Still, I kinda enjoy it!. I'm stretching intensively, and I have a natural capability for toe pointing (I do chaines easily as far as foot work is concerned)!.

What is my problem, though, are pirouttes!. As long as left leg is concerned I have no problems to go on releve and spot!. I can make up to 2 clear pirouttes!. But my right leg simply sucks!. I cannot maintain on it and after a serie of pirouttes it simply hurts!.!.!.it stops until i get a bit of rest on it!.

So!.!.!.should I continue the classes!? It really DOES bring me joy :) and I can see becoming better every single class!.!.!.but!.!.!.what can I do with those right-leg pirouttes!.!.!.!?Coz in the choreographies we usually have turns on right leg :( I try to maintain in prep (releve+hands) on right leg but it poses me problems!.!.!.!.Any advice, please!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should defiantly keep dancing! everybody has a few things that they're not great at!.you'll get better!! i promise!. just keep working on it!. ask your teacher if she'll do some turn drills with the class!. it' just releve-hold-down-half turn-down-half turn-down-full turn-down-double- down!. over and over again!. it'll get easier!!

good luck!!! Www@QuestionHome@Com

Obviously your right is weaker so work it out!. Practice those turns when your not at practice maybe a few at a time will eventually stop hurting or take advil!. Possible your doing it wrong on that side too so ask your instructor to watch and tell you if your doing it wrongWww@QuestionHome@Com

try to make sure you are centered on you foot it makes it easier to turnWww@QuestionHome@Com

When you are doing a pirouette try and remember to do all of these:
-Straighten and lengthen your supporting (turning) leg
-Bring the leg that's in passe higher than your knee (make it like a table)
-Find your center
-Keep your shoulders down, and don't hunch over
-Round your arms as if you are holding a beach ball, also when your prepare don't wind your arms up
-Keep your spot at the same place and try to get as much momentum as you can to keep turning!.
I hope I helped!
