jumps are great fun!

1) to get more height, plie deep before jumping, this will make you jump higher, sometimes thinking mentally also helps!. Like sometimes I think of touching the roof with my head when I jump and things like this can make you go higher!.

2) to keep your legs straight, lock your knees when in the jump this will keep your whole leg straight and just remember to point your feet underneath you when your jumping!.

3) as for stamina, practice long, tiring excersices, this will help to increase your stamina!. also in your spare time you can try long distance running, I did this and it helped tremendously! In the long term these thing will help you not run out of breath!. Just remember to always keep breathing during long excersices and jumps as many students tend to hold their breath!.

I hope you have fun doing lots of jumps!
also just remember to always end every single jump in a plie, and try to lengthen your legs as well (think of the top part of your body going up, and your legs lengthening down, this applies to jumps like changements!.)

hope I helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

As dancers, we always hear "use your plie", but how!? True, a good demi plie is required for the push of the jump but we also need the connection of that plie combined with the pointing of the feet and ankles as we leave the floor!. This provides us with the lift!. So remember, don't just think plie, also use the action of your feet and ankles as you push off the floor!. This will also encourage you to stretch your feet and knees while in the jump!. Tendu means to stretch, there is a reason we do them every class, you are stretching your legs and feet in the air as if in a tendu!. Stamina, well, the hardest thing for ballet dancers to learn is how to breathe!. We dance for such short periods of time between each combination!. Just concentrate on your breath with your movement!. It will come in time!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

make sure your pelvis is not tipped!. in other words, if tuck your butt under yourself, straightening out the back as much as possible!.

this will improve height and stamina(running out of breath)

for straightening your feet: if in flat shoes- really concentrate on landing toe, ball, heel!. trust me it will totally make you want to point!

if on pointe shoes- it's obviously harder! if the shank is really broken in, try doing the same as on flats, if it isnt, make sure to try and curve your arch!. it will affect the way your feet leave the floor!

:) have fun in class!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Getting more height is a matter of how strong your legs are!. PliƩ deeper and really use those muscles!
Keeping things straight is all you! Keep everything tight and maybe use your imagination a bit!. Your being sucked up a straw! LOL
Dancing is the same as running!. You definitely will get out of breath!. Plus ballet jumps were terrible for me a long time because I used to have asthma!. Just take breaths in though the nose and out through the mouth!. Keep them controled and remember you can always breathe deeper later!
Hope that helps! :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

You need to get a really deep pliƩ to solve 1 and 2!.!.!.!. and as far a 3 you need to work on your stamina in general the more you dance/ work out the longer you will eventually be able to do it with out running out of breath as quickly after!.!.!.!.(jumps are always pretty tiring though)Www@QuestionHome@Com

just put more effort and strength in your plie's before you jump, then spring up with all ur might!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
