Question: What type of dancing should I do!?
I would love to learn to dance!. All I know is that I really enjoy my aerobics class in school and that I enjoy any type of dance as long as it is fast and I can learn it, not have to improvise it!.

I considered jazz, but then I found out that you need to do ballet first, which doesn't appeal to me greatly because it seems too slow!. I also considered hip-hop, belly-dancing, salsa and even ballroom dancing for some weird reason, but I just don't KNOW! I would also love to do figure-dancing because I think skaters are fantastically graceful and they move quite fast, but it is too expensive for me to ask my parents to pay for it when they are trying to build a house and manage with the credit crunch right now!.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions as to what type of dance I might enjoy!? I don't even know how many different types of dane there are so it's difficult to choose!. As long as its fast and fun, I'm pretty much there!Www@QuestionHome@Com

well, it depends on everything!. it depends where you live as well, like if u live in miami u would need to learn salsa, if u live in new york you should consider hip hop or ballet!. but if u live on the west coast of america u should take hip hop!.!.!.!.its fun and fast to learn, but if u live on the east than u should take salsa and hip hop

my sugestion is hip hop and salsa because hip hop is just fun and easy and salsa is a romantis dance!.!.!.and it is also beautiful to watch!.!.!.!.
take both i guess!.!!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

How about Tap!? Tap is fast paced and you can learn it fairly easily!. also you could do Irish dance, (since you live in Ireland) :) I always wanted to do Irish!. I can now! It is very fast paced so you may like it! Hope this helps! Good Luck! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes it's true if you dfo ballet you can then do ANY types of dance!. It gives you the basics in every dance!. Jazz is very hard to master without displipline form ballet!. I would know i've been there!. Just remeber to let yourself go in jazz be free!. In ballet, on the other hand, as well as perfroming you have to keep it all in!. My suggestion woulkd be to do ballet for 1 term then satrt jazz tap modern that way you'll get better at everything!. I ce skating well, sorry but it is expensive and really you knid of have to pick which one: ice skating or ballet!? U cant do both they are COMPLETY diffrent and wilol do no good for you!. BYe Good Luck, hopw i helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I guess it depends on the purpose of dancing!. If you just want to do something for yorself and by yourself then tap, jazz and ballet would be fine!. But if you want to be able to use what you learn *outside* of class, I don't know how many ballet clubs and tap clubs there are to go dancing at!. It's friday night and you want to go out!.!.!.where are you going to dance ballet or tap!?

I think just in general terms of actually utilizing the dance in real life situations, salsa or hiphop is best!. Hiphop is everywhere of course, but the fun thing with salsa is that it is a partner dance!. The art of dancing with a partner is something that a lot of people are missing out on these days!.

It's can be romantic with the right person, but it is also just plain fun!. Each guy you dance with knows different moves and each new partner is like a test to see how well you understand his lead!. Sometimes the chemistry is just there and it flows as if you are reading each other's minds!. It gives you a high that you can't beat and in fact salsa dancers are often criticized by club owners because they don't drink enough alcohol at clubs!. I think you are likely to find a lot of people getting drunk at hiphop clubs, but salsa dancers really want to DANCE and you can't dance if you're drunk!.

Anyway, as you can tell I love dancing salsa so I recommend it to anyone!. You can find salsa clubs around the world (I live in Sweden)!. I haven't been to Northern Ireland but when I was in Dublin I went out to a salsa club, and they recently had a salsa convention in Ireland, but I don't remember what city!. There is also a strong salsa culture in London, whcih isn't too far off for an occasional special weekend like the annual Cuba Carnaval!.

Here are some salsa dancing videos!. Within the world of salsa there are different styles of salsa dancing and these videos show the main styles!.

Salsa from New York mostly danced to music from New York or Puerto Rico:

Salsa from Cuba (they move around a circle and have tangly, twisty moves and alot of hip and shoulder movement whereas the US styles move in a straight line and do more spinning and arm movements called "styling")!. Cuban salsa is danced to all salsa music but most Cuban style dancers prefer Cuban music because it's more modern than music from other countries as in this video!. also just so you understand what's happening at 1:20 and at 3:06 they switch to dancing Afro-cuban rumba in response to what is happening in the percussion, then they go back to salsa!.

L!.A!. Style salsa Invented by the Vasquez brothers who moved to LA from Mexico!. It is VERY new and VERY flashy with lots of acrobatics!. NY style dancers tend to criticize LA for being flash without substance!. You decide what you think!.

Colombian style (from Cali most Colombinas don't actually dance like this) It is really heavy on boogaloo footwork!. It might be hardest to find a dance school that tecahes Colombian style!. This couple has added some LA type drop moves as well!.

And as a bonus video ;-) Here is a sample of what Afro-cuban rumba is!. The music is drums and voices only!. You can see the very heavy african influence!. The idea of this dance is that the woman is sexy to attract the man but he will try to surprise her when she isn't expecting it and "vaccinate" her by doing a fast movement towards her pelvis with his pelvis, hand, foot or head!. She blocks him by putting her hand in front!. It's fun becasue it's like seduction but also a competition between the man and woman and it may seem weird at first, especially the music, but learning to dance rumba adds a lot of "flavour" to your salsa, in fact even to your hiphop!. Watch her hands as she protects herself from the "vacunao"
