Question: How do you pop your hips to the beat like a belly dancer!?
I know it's kind of a silly sounding question but really, how do you pop your hips like that!? How do you find your muscles there!? It seems like one of those muscles like your nostrils, ears, and eyebrows where some people can move them and some people can't--and i wonder if i can't or if i practice will i be able to do it!? if i practice---how would i practice!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

One thing to remember when doing hip movements is that you can't do them with straight legs!. You have to keep your knees soft (slightly flexed) for the movements to look right!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Controlling your muscles like that is what is known in popping as "hitting"!. You simply contract and loosen the muscle!. However, in belly dancing you have to work the joints in your hips as well!. Study it closely and try to find the right combo of joint and muscle work to get the desired effect!. And don't worry about looking stupid at the start!. It probably will!. It takes a lot of time and practice to get something exactly the way you want it when dancing, even when it looks like something subtly simple!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
