Question: Is dancing considered a sport!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
in my books it is!. Dancers work just as hard or harder as any athlete does!. we go through the same pain, we shed blood, sweat and tears, and put in all our energy into this wonderful art of dancing!. would you not agree!?!!?!!?

Ahhh, the age-old question!. It's usually considered both a sport and an art!. There's a reason they call ballroom "dancesport"!. also, dancesport is being considered as an Olympic sport, so that would definately classify it as a sport!. All forms of dance require a high level of athletic ability and endurance!. But, at the same time, in things like dancesport, when you get to high levels the technique is all very similar, so the artistic side does come into it a fair bit!. I think you could classify it as both a sport and an art, as it fits into both catergories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

of course dancing is a sport!
i'm a dancer, and you have no idea how much effort and training it takes!.
it demands a high level of fitness and physical activity!.
and also demands you to push yourself over your limits!.

you need to have good endurance to be a dancer as you have to dance for long periods of time, also good power to be able to jump, do cartwheels/backflips etc, you need to have strength to hold balances/headstands etc!.!.also to lift other dancers, you need to have good flexibility to create shapes, do the splits/kick high etc!.
i could go on!.

it takes a lot of training, focus and commitment!. and the demand on the body is really high!

yes of course it is!. to be a dancer you need a lot of strength and stamina adn you need to be in the right mind frame!.

Dancers are much stronger and have more stamina than footballers! Ha i would like to see a footballer do ballet - chances are that they wouldnt be able to do any of it!

as well as having to be strong, dancers have to be gracefull and elegant and have to perform to an audience as well as doing technically difficult things!.

I've been dancing for 18 years, and I would say no!.

Yes, it's a lot of hard work!.!. yes it's amazing for your body!.!.!. but no it is not a sport!. It's an art form!.

But then I don't think that bowling is a sport!. Or golf!. And some people consider those to be sports!.!.!. so what do I know!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, it is to me!. I saw a shoe that said the force it take for a ballerina to stand on one foot on her toes is the same amount as 3 elephants standing on each others backs on one foot!. Now if that's not a sport I don't know what is!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think, depending on the dance, it is both a sport and an art form!. For example, ballet and hip-hop are both sports because you have to work, but in my opinion ballet is an art form aswell whereas hip-hop isn't an art form!.

Have a nice day!!

yes, I consider it a sport!
I am very athletic, and with all my sport I do ballet too!. It's the same for me : hard physical work!.!.!.
Though it would offend (don't ask me why) some ballerinas if you call ballet a sportWww@QuestionHome@Com

Ballroom and other dancing has gained the status of being a sport!. What most of us do could not be considered either an art or sport!.
