Question: Tips for dancing in character shoes!?
I'm the youngest in my group; we dance a little bit of everything!. I just made it up to this level this year and, every year, they do a jazz/kick line number in character shoes!. I'm kind of scarred of dancing in character shoes!. I never wear high heels, so I'm not used to them!. And, when I DID wear high heals, I started tap dancing in them (I guess I just felt the urge)! I ALWAYS used to twist my ankle in them, even when I WASN'T tap dancing in them!

I REALLY need some tips!.

I'll be doing over 11 dances in our annual show this year (thank GOD I'm not doing the kick line in character shoes at the competitions!), and I'd REALLY hate to miss out on all of them because I twisted my ankle!.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really isnt that hard to dance in them!. Just get ones with a low heel!. You just need to practice dancing in them!. They are different than dancing in regular high heels, because character shoes are made for dancing!. also when you practice on the stage you are going to be on if its slippery you can either buy shoe grips, which you can find at like payless or a shoe store and you put them on the bottom of your shoe!. Or you can buy extra hold hairspray and spray the bottom of your shoe!. That will help so you dont slide around!. Just practice in them as much as you can because as you dance in them more you will break them in and they will be more comfortable to dance in and easier to dance in!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just practice wearing and walking in them; just wander around the house in them or practice your dance while wearing them!. You should get loads of practice dancing in them in class!.
If they feel loose when you dance in them, pad the toes out with cotton wool to help steady yourself!.
Hope it helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since you can't take them home to break them in get comfortable moving on the ball of your foot, so you don't have to rely on the heel as much for your stability!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Make sure you get the chunkiest heel (and you can get character shoes in a lower heel)!. They don't turn as much as spike heels because of the broader base!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

dancing in heels is so much easier than walking in them!
walk around your house in them
if you can do that, you can do it :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
