Most schools try to get girls en pointe from about 11-13 years old!. If you waited until the growth plates were fully developed you would have to wait until they were at least 17-18 years old, but you can't wait that long!.

To go en pointe your ankles have to be insanely strong!. You can seriously damage your legs if you start pointe younger than 11!. You can't go en pointe 'as soon as you want'!. Some people are ready to go en pointe before others are!. Even if someone has done ballet fewer years, they could still be more ready!. It depends on your turn-out, strength of your ankles, and position of your pelvis and arms in line with your body!.

Obviously, your friend isn't ready to go en pointe yet!. The teachers know best!. Her teacher must think she won't be ready until she is 15!. Even if she has been doing ballet for 10 years, the years don't matter!.

Hope this helped,

13 is definitely NOT too young to start pointe!. in the ballet world it is generally encouraged to start pointe as young as is possible so the dancer can reach optimal strength by the time she starts performing in ballets on pointe!. most girls start pointe at 10 or 11!.!.!.!. encourage your friend to start pointe and if her studio won't let her, look for a new studio! You are not supposed to start as soon as you can!.!.!. starting too soon can and often does result in injuries!. Girls are usually moved up to pointe after they have the technique down!.!.!. some girls move up before they turn 13, others don't get moved up until they're much older!.!.!. it all depends on the dancers technique!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Age doesn't matter THAT much, but it does a little!. They say you have to have atleest 7 years of ballet experience!. Some people start at age 2! Can you see someone going at age 8!? Pointe also makes your feet bleed and blister!. As long as she knows all that and she's had at least 7 years of experience, I think it's okay!. Maybe she should go to another studio if it's what she really wants right now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hey, i dont think 13 is too young as long as she ir ready and strong enough to go up!. im 12 and i am going up this week!!! yay!. as long as she has proper turnout, strong ankles, strong thighs, and strong calves she should be fine!. it depends also on how fast you learn things!. if they dont think she will be ready though until she is fifteen you may not want to push it because she could be hurt really badly!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, u can start Pointe as early as when ur 12(recommend age), but when u said that ur supposed to start pointe as soon as possible is not entirely true!!! Because it is good to make sure ur bones are strong enough, or else ur feet will be sacraficed for dancing!.!.!.!. like what lots of people do!. but i'm 12 and i already started pointe, so if u want to, give it a try!Www@QuestionHome@Com

13 is not too young, but it is always up to the dance instructor!. They will know when you (your friend is ready, be patient!. I just started and im 17Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should start when you feel ready and how many years you have been in ballet it should be 3 or more!. and at least 13 or olderWww@QuestionHome@Com
