Question: Should I audition for the Nutcracker!?
First off, I'm not 13 - I'll be 26 next month!. I've been dancing my whole life, but I've never had the chance to be in the Nutcracker - I've always wanted to though!. I haven't really danced on pointe much in recent years, so unless I work really hard at it, I doubt I will be able to do a pointe part!. I don't plan on auditioning in pointe shoes, but I do plan on making a note on my audition form!. I'm a teacher right now and I take class once a week!. I'm not sure if I should go for it or not!. I don't want to get laughed at by the kids, but I'd really like to do it!. What do you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
There are several roles that do not, necessarily, require pointe work!.
I think it is great that you are doing something you have wanted to do!. "The kids" may laugh at you, but I doubt it unless the Ballet community as a whole has changed more than I realize!.
At the very least, there are roles for the "party attendees!." I believe the Russian dance is not pointe work, but VERY physically challenging!.
Merde!
