you must have strong ankles, and a good foundation!. Turns and splits are good, but im sorry to say that those are the most easily obtained by natural ability!. You do sound like you have natural ability, but you need a solid foundation of training!. Try ankle excersizes in first and fifth such as plie releves on both feet, then alternating on one!. You sound like you are on the right track, but practice makes perfect :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

It doesn't matter if you can do the splits, or a double piruette or a million piruettes in a row!.

the only thing that matters is how strong you ankles and thighs are!. Not how good you are!.

it will probably take you about 1 year untill you'll be able to do pointe!.
And maybe even by the end of this year!

you could go on pointes if you could do balances on both feet and balancing one a one foot w/ retire on the other leg!. don't worry, I'm going 13 on november but most of my ballet classmates are already on pointes but my teacher says that we can start working on pointe shoes in november!. don't worry, if you really love ballet, strive hard so that you can achieve your dreams!.

P!.S!.
my classmates said that being on pointes is hard and your feet will hurt but if do do it regularly, the pain will go away!. it is also hard to do pirouettes and chaines on full pointes thanks!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Coming to ballet late is not a problem but it's not a question of being "good" to work en pointe, it's a question of strength!. Even little ballerinas in Grades 2 and 3 are already doing exercises week in week out to strengthen their legs, feet and ankles in preparation for more advanced ballet and eventually pointe work!.

My advice is to speak to your teacher and ask what exercises you can practice in class and at home to prepare your bones, muscles and ligaments for going en pointe!. She'll be able to tell you when you're ready!.

So keep practicing and enjoying your ballet but it won't be flexibility and ability that gets you en pointe, it will be exercising and practice - and waiting until your teacher tells you you're ready!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
