Yes, spotting helps a great deal!. Here are some other tricks and tips I have for you!.

Firstly, make sure you pull up!. When you just try to get around, you don't have enough support and alignment in your body to get more than two turns in!. The big secret to turning is pretending there is a string on top of your head and just lift your entire body, including the head, jaw, neck, collarbone, and below!. Don't focus on turning when you go up into position!. Simply focus on coming up to your position, and the momentum from your transition from preparation to the turning position, combined with pulling up, will get you around much more!.

also, don't tense your muscles!. It's important to understand that when you flex or tense your muscles, the muscle fibers contract and more weight is concentrated on one area of the body!. By adding more weight in smaller places, your body is forced to compensate, and it does so by shifting the alignment!. Your body will twist and wobble, which will cause you to fall when you're turning!. It's dangerous and you won't be able to turn nearly as well!.

An exception to that is tensing the abdominal muscles!. Your abs are evenly placed along the stomach, so by concentrating the muscle fibers toward each other and the center of your body, your center of gravity lowers!. The lower your center of gravity, the easier it is to balance (and therefore turn)!. That's why shorter people (who have lower centers of gravity than taller people) can turn better, and are more widely accepted in dance companies! also, the abdominal muscles, when tensed, force natural alignment and posture!. You can feel more accurately when you are tipping and twisting your body when your abs are working!.

Make sure not to hunch the shoulders!

My last tip is to inhale and exhale at strategic intervals!. First, you should take a quick (but not sharp) intake of breath as you switch from your preparation into the turn position!. Try timing your breaths with the positions by simply going up into the position without turning!. Next, you should be slowly and deeply exhaling as you turn!. Lastly, as you feel yourself about to fall out of the turn, take another quick and sharp intake of breath!. This will sometimes get you around about a rotation more!.

Stay up in a strong releve, and don't wind up before the turn, or else you'll go everywhere!.!. as you're doing the turn, dont think "ohmygod i cant do this im gonna run out of momentum" just believe that you can do it (i think i can, i think i can) and you'll be doing multiple turns in no time! :)

Alternatively, to practice your posture and keep your tummy tucked without worrying about momentum, pick up the turnboard http://www!.discountdance!.com/frame_set!.p!.!.!. , but just stay away from tile!

at my old dance studio we would have a class for just turns and leaps!. so ask your teacher to watch you first off and see wat your doing wrong and she can give you the best tips!. if your doing pirouettes make sure you are balanced in your center and have a strong frame!. dont wobble around to much and make sure you dont lean!. be up on the balls of your toes and always remember to spot!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Make sure you standing leg is straight and that your other leg is all the way up to passe!. also be sure to have a quick spot and use your arms to help you turn!. A good way to practice is to do balances on flat, then on releve, and when you have that down try singles and then doubles!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need to pull out of your sized!. Hold you body you straight and don't bend your nee!. And some teachers do if different then others but the one that helps me the most is hold you arms close to your body rather the out "like holding a beach ball"Www@QuestionHome@Com

Put all your weight on your best foot, and use tuns of like, effort on it!. Then when your balanced just pick up your other foot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
