i don't like busting people's bubbles, but give that dream up!. I started at 3 like most other dancers, took a 3yr break and picked it back up at 16!. That was murder! your body hasn't been conditioned or anything!. You can train and take private lessons for hours on end every single day then maybe HOPE to be able to audition into your city's dance company!. My dance school made us do at least 3 yrs of summer classes (that's dancing during the yr plus summertime) before they will even consider putting you on point!. You have to be strong enough to do it!.!.!.wobbly ankles need not apply!. Dancers are like gymnasts!. We are trained in our craft!. Work as a receptionist at a dance studio, take some classes, enjoy your new hobby!. That's just what it is, a hobby!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unfortunately, Alexxx is right!. It is virtually impossible to become a professional dancer if you start at 18!. Most companies won't take anyone over 20 unless they're coming from another company, and that gives you less than a year to get to a professional level because you would have to start auditioning several months in advance to get a place in a company!. You shouldn't even start pointe with less than a year of ballet experience, so it's extremely unrealistic to expect to be good enough before it's too late to get a job!.

You can dance for recreation, but don't expect to make a career out of it!. I'm 15, and I've already taken ballet for 9 yrs!. and have 4 yrs!. of pointe!. I've already started getting into the professional dance world by going to summer intensives at companies I'm interested in working with!. That means that by the time I'm looking to join a company, they'll know me and might choose me over someone they don't know!. A ballet career starts very early, and some girls work their entire lives to that goal!. The competition for positions at companies is brutal!. I want to be a professional dancer more than anything, and I'm doing everything possible to ensure that it happens!. Hopefully you understand how hard it is and how long it takes to become a professional dancer and will look for another career!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you have the drive and the potential to try it, then defiantly!. You can do anything you want if you have the passion! If I were you I would start taking classes at a the best local studio around you, don't worry if there are younger people in the class, you r there for you and if its what you want to do you will not let it bother you! Then if you plan on going to college you should just make sure you take all the right classes !! Good luck, and its not too late to start don't let that get you down! You will be great!Www@QuestionHome@Com

it is basically impossible!.
the majority of professional ballerinas started like at, 3!.
besides, you would have needed to be accepted to a ballet school around your pre-teen years to get into one!. they rarely accept 18 year olds!. sorry!Www@QuestionHome@Com

well you could but its practically impossible!. you must have a great dancer body and a huge potential!. if you are starting at 18 well then you must work extremely hard and work your butt off 24/7!. If not than there's not really a chance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
