Question: I'm 18 Years old and want to start ballet, moving towards pointe!. Am I too late!?!?
Sorry this is so lengthy, but this is a life changing decision here, and I really want everyone to look at the entire situation before giving opinions!.

Ever since I was younger I have always had a passion for dance, more specifically ballet!. I have some dance history, mostly dancing in high school!. I have always been more commited to dance than anything else, and it has always been a dream of mine to go to a dance oriented college!. When I was younger, my family was unable to pay for me to take ballet, so I was never able to!. Now that I'm a bit older and can support myself, I have been constantly contemplating going for my dream!. I don't have high arches at all, but my feet aren't completely flat, and I would consider my ankles relatively strong for someone who doesn't have much of a history in ballet!. I'm not fat, but I don't really have the "ideal" body for ballet (aka my butt is HUGE and my leo tends to ride up!.!.!.), but I am willing to do anything it takes to reach my goal even if it means a complete change of diet!. I am currently pursuing an associates degree in chemistry, but I catch myself constantly thinking about the "what if" factor!. I know how competative dance can be and I also know that I'll be up against girls who have been dancing since birth!. I really truly believe that my passion and determination will help me to surpass those who have been in ballet for many years!. Please help, any advice would be wonderful!. It would be so reassuring to me to hear someone tell me it's not too late for me!. I am truly ready to do whatever it takes, and I really mean that!. Thanks!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not a dancer but I know A LOT of girls AND guys who dance!. The ones who stand out are the ones who love what they do, the ones who are passionate about what they do!. It is never too late to learn!. Ever!.

I hate the corny answers that go all "you can do anything"!. I know from watching my friends that it takes commitment to get good at dance and i know from myself that it takes passion to be great at anything!. Who cares if your butt is huge!? Is there some rule that ballerinas must be skinny to be good!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

ok,

Start by doing exercises 6days a week, run at least a mile, do 50 crunches daily, 50 squats, and 50 lunges, i know this sounds alot, bu u have to get fit for this, it never impossible not to be able to do it, but do a month of exercising, then try joing at an easy level to get the moves down then go on to point good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's never to late for anything!. TThere are alot of people out there who take ballet and are still very old!. If you want it!. Go for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's never too late, it will just be harder to learn as young kids learn so well so fast!. You can do it if you're focused and willing =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm afraid you'll probably never be a prima ballerina, but if this is truly a passion, have you ever thought about teaching ballet!? I would wholly encourage your passion, because it's going to lead to a more fulfilled life, and it might prove to be an excellent outlet for you!. I wouldn't go into performance, it will hurt you emotionally and you don't want that joy torn from you!. Take ballet, get the joy from it, but maybe consider the teaching aspect, or even choreography!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I studied ballet from the age of 4 but I recall having a special student join us and she was in her 30's - of course at the time I thought she was someone's grandma!. As I got older I remember Ms!. Williams still coming to class - she never became professional, but she sure had a great body and legs from all that ballet!. I must confess that it is hard work and hard on the body and the pressure I felt to stay thin was overbearing!. But I think if you have a dream you should at least pursue it!. Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

O my goodness girl!
Its never too late to get back into dance-- or start or whatever!
You and i share the same passion-- DANCE-- it just flows through my veins!
You seem to be passionate enough to see what you want!. maybe start out with a few classes at first-- or maybe just one-- and see how it goes before you completly change everything, you know!?
I would love to get back into dance also-- its so incredibly amazing-- just how you feel when you dance-- there is no other feeling like it! it just feels right! lol!.
but anyways *snap* back to earth here!.!.!.
so maybe dont give up on the whole Chemistry thing-- just start with a class-- and go from there-- i think youll find out what you want
; )

I wish you the best of luck hon!Www@QuestionHome@Com
