Question: Does anyone dance at two different ballet studios!?
I am at an all girls boarding school which is three hours away from my house so during the holidays i can't dance at the same studio that i do during term time!. Do you think that this is counter productive, to my ballet progress!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Not at all!. I think it can actually have some advantages and be good for your ballet progress!.

The only potential problem is if your different studios teach different methods of ballet!. That can be easily remedied by a little research!. Just make sure you know what each method of ballet entails!. For example, Vaganova method was created by the Russians and focuses on lower back strength and basic flexibility whereas Cecchetti method focuses more on the movement and lines!.
Learning different methods can really only help unless you don't know the difference between the methods!.

If the two studios are teaching the same method, it should be super productive!. One teacher cannot teach you everything!. Two teachers are better than one because the first teacher might focus on something and the 2nd will focus on another thing!. By the end, you'll have progressed a whole lot in more areas than if you would have with just one teacher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Absolutely not! I think it's great you're taking from multiple dance teachers!. The more experience you get from other teachers, the better rounded you'll be!. I encourage my students to take classes from other teachers whenever they can!. I think it would be more counter productive to your ballet progress to take the time off and not dance at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

not at all! as long as you're still keeping up your technique and work just as hard you should be fine!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
