Question: Best Pointe Shoes For Beginner!?
I am 16 and I weight between 120-125lbs and I'm 5' 6"

For a beginner, what brand and model and type of shank of pointe is the best!? I just need one that will last me a nifty time if I use them for 1 hour of dance class per week and additional practicing at home!. I will not get them online, I have a dance store nearby and they carry the following:

--Bloch: Aspiration, European Balance, Sonata, Synergy (Full and 3/4 shank)
--Capezio: Chasse, Concerto, Glisse Pro (Standard and Extra Strong shank), and Plie II
--Grishko: 2007 (Soft and Medium shank)
--Russian Pointe: Almaz, Brio, Celeste, Dolce, Entrada, Grande, Polette 3/4 outsole, Polette, Rubin and Sapfir!. Variety of shanks!.
--Mirella: MS101A

Sorry for the long list but hopefully it's helpful

Thanks =)

The only real way to tell is to go in and be fitted for different types of shoes and choose the one you like best from there!. Personally, unless you have really wide feet I think Blochs are ugly and blocky!. Capezios die extremely quickly, Grishkos are the best out of the shoes you've listed, although I think they're somewhat bulky as well!. I've never worn Rusiian Pointes but I hear they're terrible (once again though, it depends on the individual dancer, they may be great on your feet) and Mirella has only just come out with their pointe shoe model so I'm somewhat skeptical still!.

My favorite shoes are Freeds but they die after a class for me!. The only shoes that last for me are Gaynor Mindens, and many teachers have problems with those!. They are by no means beginner shoes!.

But I can't enforce enough that you should never pick a shoe based off someone else's opinion of it!. You need to look at each shoe on your foot and decide which one looks and feels best!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I use Russion Pointe Entrada Medium Flexible shank and they are wonderful!. But it is really important to get a shoe that is FOR YOUR FOOT!. Everyone's foot is different and different shoes are for different arches and shapes of the feet!. You should talk to your dance teacher our the person that fits your pointe shoes for suggestions!.
I tried bloch and they fit my feet horribly!. But the girl above me likes them!. So it all depends on your foot!. Hope that helps :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go to a specialty dance store and and ask someone to help you with the brand and fit!. Tell them it is your first pair of pointe shoes, and they will find one that will work for you!. Every person has different needs, and for beginners, especially!. Work with a fitting specialist to get the right shoe for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do NOT get Bloch!. That's what my teacher always tells the dancers!. Apparently there is something about them that makes it where you can never really get completely over the box of the shoe!. So you probably don't want to mess with that!.

Capezios are really good and I've heard good things about Grishkos!.

Russian Pointe would probably be pretty hard!.

I really really recommend Gaynor Minden's if they're available somewhere!. They can last up to a year!.!.sometimes more!. And they are very comfortable and everything!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I personally love Bloch, I just recently got my first pair of shoes and I love them! You didn't list the pair i have, but I tried the Sonatas, and if my foot were wider, they would have been great! Your foot, of course, may be radically different from mine, your weight has almost nothing to do with the shoe chosen for you!. Make sure you go into a store and don't order online! Good luck on pointe :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Russian Pointe Dolce with medium flexible shank!.theyll last you for a whille!. i loved them i keep usign that still actually i ust recently changed to the next shank up =]

the mirellas are also good! they break in easily for people with strogn anlkles but shoudl be ggood for beginner =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would suggest Capezio a standard shank!. That's what I started out with when I first started pointe!. I have been on pointe for 3 years and am now using the brand Grishko!. After trying a couple of brands you will find out which one you like the best!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok well I highly recommend serenade bloch they were my second pair I got them and I wish they were my first pair, because the loch aspirations were auful and really hard to get over the box for begginner shoe it wasn't nice at all!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love the japanese kind- but theyll only fit if your feet are really small, they dont hurt much!. if your feet are big, go with the blochsWww@QuestionHome@Com
