People tend to think that in order to get into the profession of being a ballerina, you have to have taken ballet and other forms of dancing since you were in the freaking uterus!. The truth is while, yes, a lot of professional ballerinas went to the American Ballet Theater summer sessions when they were 13 or 14 years old or some other prestigious ballet programs during school and summer, anyone can really be a professional dancer if they wanted to!.

It will be a tad bit hard for you to get into the business of ballet but it's not impossible!. From what I'm hearing, you seem to be getting stretching done very well!. Keep going at that!. However, ballet is not all about flexibility!. It's about strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and grace as well!.

I'm not going to tell you to do plies or warm ups on your own because it is REALLY easy to teach yourself incorrect positions and postures!. You should not try and teach yourself or you'll just get a bad habit of having a wrong posture!. In the meanwhile, just keep stretching (legs, back, and hip mostly), run to build leg muscles--or anything to build leg muscles because ballet = leg muscles!, and try and get your arms strengthened up by lifting light weights (trust me, when you're doing plies and arabesques for a long time, your arms are going through hell being held up in the air for hours at the end)!.

Good luck!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its good to stretch for 3-5 hours a day!. (witch you do)
It would be also good if you took more then one class a week!.
My advice would be to take older and younger classes your dance center offers!. Even if you are taking classes with 7 year olds, because you can learn a lot about the basic and what you might of forgotten!.
also besides ballet take a lyrical or modern class!. Its a little bit similar and it teaches movement!. Random things you should practice is your turns and turnouts!.Practical splits and other flexible movement is also good to do!. You're not too old to become a prima ballerina good luck and the answer is yes you should do more :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are doing great!. Just keep stretching and everything else your instructor will teach you!. Now, Don't be surprised if a teacher corrects you, it's all part of learning the positions and alignments!. All dancers get it!. I'm in advanced ballet, and I still get corrections all the time!. Just warning you, because when i got serious about dance it took me awhile to understand why they were picking on me so much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your stretching a lot, and that's really good, but you should take more ballet classes!. Atleast 3 each week!. That should make you go en pointe in about 2 years (if not less)!. also for flexibility, join yoga classes and take those atleast 2 times a week too!. Your definately not too old! You seem like you REALLY want this and you will be deticated!. Good luck!
P!.S!. I'm 13 too, and I'm starting ballet in September (I'm doing ballet just for fun though hoping to get en pointe=)Www@QuestionHome@Com

No your doing just what you need to do look for some ballet book at like the library I did a ballet program at the library and was looking at some book and they helped me alot!!! stretching is the best thing that you can do right now! I'm 13 and I got on pointe the start of my second year but I had done soccer for 6 years before so!. I'm not doing dance this year but I want to go pro but thats most likely not going to happen so live your dream!!!!! gl here my email gatordancegirl15@yahoo!.com so plz email and we can talk more!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Thats really good it'll help a lot and 13 is not too old dont listen to people like that!. As others have said doing basic ballet stuff will help also learning the positions and doing plie's!.!.

Heres a video of 1st,2nd,3rd,4th & 5th positions!.!.as for arms depending on teachers they teach arms different, as ive learned!.

http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=nFbN5wzyw!.!.!.

You can look up all kinds of different things on ballet on youtube!.!.You can type in something like basic ballet, or how to do ____ and then whatever you'd like to learn!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

13 is not to old to start dancing, no matter what people tell you!. Stretching lots is very important and you should try to find a couple professional books on ballet and start reading!. it will help you learn terminology and other things faster!. If you have the chance, try to take more then just one class a week!. The more you dance, the faster/easier it is to improve!.

Best of luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think you are doing fine!. I'm 13 and I do ballet, but I started when I was younger!. I also do ballet once a week!. Stretching is important, and I think your stretching routine is good, but I don't think you need to stretch that much!.

also, 13 IS NOT TOO OLD AT ALL!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think that it is good that your stretching every day!.!.!.try maybe going throught some basic moves like piroettes (don't think thats spelled right !.!.!.but what i mean is turns), make sure your fully stretch your point and make your foot as strong as you can!.!.!.try doing tandues, and just some basic ballet move!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

do not do any ballet move this because it might be different from what your teacher will teach and mess you up !.!.!.!.a lot!.!.!.!.you also might execute the move wrong which could hurt your body!. just stick to stretching you will be more prepared then any one else in the classWww@QuestionHome@Com

oh my god!. you stretch EVERY DAY!?!?!? I am pretty good and I didn't even practice!. well, come to think of it!. i took classes every day 7 days a week!. so i suggest that you take more than 1 ballet class a week!. just to help!. i really hope you do well!. also its good that ur started stretching 6months early i will help!. a lot!!!
