The first question you should ask is how young their youngest pointe dancer is!. If it's anything younger than 12, then I would strongly discourage you from dancing there (they put their dancers on pointe too young, putting them at rist for serious injury)!.

also, a ballet class for someone your age should be 45-90 minutes long!. Anything less and you're not going to be learning anything (not enough time), and anything more, you're being overworked!.

Ask about their staff!. If they have teenagers teaching anything but little kid classes, they do not have qualified staff!. Even if they only have their teenagers teaching little kid classes, I'd still try to find a studio that doesn't hire teenagers to teach alone!. Try to find a studio that has staff that has either performed with a dance company or has or is working on a degree in dance!.

Make sure that the studios are big enough to move around in - a small studio will not give you the amount of space you need to move in!.

Ask how many students are in a class - anything more than about 15 students is too many and you will not be getting the attention you need!.

I hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm 13 too, I've been dancing since I was 4!.
I first recomend to visit a few local studios in your area, check out to see if they offer ballet, and a beginning ballet class for older kids(you don't want to do a beginner class for like 6 year olds, but you don't want to be in a class for 13 year olds who've done ballet before!.!.!. it would be too hard!.)

If you have a chance to meet the ballet teacher, do so and if they seem very mean, or strict you might not want to go there!. also some studios are way more expensive than others, so that's also a factor!.!.!.

And also take a look inside the actual studio itself, you might want to check out the conditions of it, to see if it looks nice and clean or really dirty and stuff!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Heyyy!

I'm a competitive dancer, and I do ballet! Most studios are great, I've never seen a studio with "warning flags" though!. Make sure the studio has nice teachers and students, you don't want to be dancing with mean people! You could ask around the studios in your area!. Make sure they have good foundation!.

My studio is the Annex Dance Academy, it is in Oakville and Toronto, Ontario!. It has many types of dance, and it also has competitive!.

Hope this helped!
