Question: Getting back into ballet!?
I just started taking lessons again after a 2 and a half year break off!. I am 14, i started ballet at 8, went on pointe at 10 and quit for a bit when i was 12!. I was pretty good, top of my class at the highest level the school had to offer, going about 11 hours a week!. I tried out for ballet again and was put into the highest class again so im still on pointe, with one of the girls i had taken ballet with before i had left!. I have a new teacher now and her style is a little different!. IM SO BAD! not horrible but almost there!. how long should it be until i am about the same skill level as the other girls in the class!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I definitely do not think it will take you that long!. Especially if you were at the top of your class before! I'm 14 too and kind of going through the same thing!. I switched this year from a studio that's not so great to an amazing studio!. The styles were soo different and the dances were reallyy challenging!. I had made one of the competition teams so there was a lot of pressure for me to have the dance completely perfect that we had learned in two days!. It hasn't even been a month and I'm just working really hard and when I don't understand something I ask questions even if they're dumb because they help a lot when I don't understand something!. I'm already improving and it hasn't even been a month yet so just work reallyy hard and I know that you'll get back to the top soon!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would try to look into a different dance school!. My daughter is a dancer and she is extremely accomplished!. She is 12 and for the past two years she has been dancing with the Joffrey Ballet in the Nutcracker!. We have had experience with several dance schools (including Joffrey) and not one of them would let ANY of the dancers go on pointe before they turned 12!. It is extremely risky and can cause permanent injury to the dancer!. 11 hours per week is an overkill and I would imagine very costly!. My daughter just completed a summer intensive at one of the best schools within our driving distance!. Their dance company travels all over the world!. They say the same thing, and she started ballet when she was 2 1/2!.
