Question: How hard would it be to start dance at a late age!? What kinds are available!?
I'm 14 and I've been considering dance as a hobby, but the thing is that I'm not sure how much I could excel in things like ballet, and such without having started at a young age!. Would it be advisable to start now!? also what kinds of dance are available!? What do they involve!? What's the music like!? And what are the pros and cons of them!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

i can't tell you about types of dance i haven't taken, but here's my description and opinions!.

tap- tap is really REALLY rythm oriented!. basically you need to have a good ear for rythms and good with music!. it's a hard one for some people because it only deals mostly with your feet and it doesn't require any flexibility at all!. one of those classes you should take a beginner class in before you go to advanced!. it'd confuse you too much to jump right to a higher level!. (my favorite type!.)

jazz- jazz is a really fun class!. a lot of the songs used in jazz are fast songs with a good beat!. there's a lot of jumps leaps and turns in jazz!. that's where ballet would help!. but even without ballet, you could learn the turns and everything!.

ballet- ballet is a very beautiful and graceful type of dance!. it's not too hard to pick up on, but you'd have to work really hard to get the hang of it!. the names of the moves are all french!. :) ballet would be good to start now because you could pick up on it at pretty much any age!.

broadway jazz- broadway is one of the funnest classes i've taken in my opinion!. i've always loved broadway shows so when i started this class at my studio, it was a blast!. it's less of the jumps leaps and turns!. most of the time you dance in character shoes sometimes with heels!. and the main focus is on acting the part, and using your body and arms to show expression!. you could defnitely catch right up in that class if you started itWww@QuestionHome@Com

I began dance at age 17! I've taken ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical and modern!. I would recommend ballet and jazz as a starting point!.
Jazz is typically going to be modern music, lots of turns and leaps!. Hip Hop classes could also be fun for a beginner since they technically don't require a huge pool of knowledge (like ballet) to be able to enjoy and/or execute the moves!.
I'm almost 22 and I've had to work my butt off to make it in dance, but it's definitely possible!. I highly recommend following your desire to pursue dance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
