actually most famous dancers didn't major in dancing they just had what it took to be successful and had a rythem that most dancers have!. you could probubly try out to be in a Broadway production,(thats how most people's carrers startted out)!. if you happen to get into one, other producers that are looking for actors or dancers will look at you and maby want you to play a part in their movie!. good luck in your dancing carrer!!!!

As far as I am aware, a "major" is the subject of your degree and in the UK a degree in dance does not really qualify you to be a dancer at all!. However, there are degrees you can do in teaching dance, which qualify you to be a dancer in the sense that you make your money from teaching dance!

The majority of people you will see on the West End or in dance companies will have gone to stage/ballet school, partly because the most dedicated dancers tend to go to stage/ballet school and partly because the industry works on a "who you know" basis and they make contacts through school! If, however, you mean a dancer in the sense of a professional competitor (latin and ballroom, etc), you would definitely need to have passed professional qualifications!. The same applies if you want to teach dance!.

At the end of the day, anyone can be a dancer, but, in general, the more training you have the more successful you will be!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Speaking as the mother of a college-trained, American dancer: absolutely not!. In fact, most college dance programs are not strong enough to prepare you for a performing career as a dancer!. And, basically, there are just too many dance majors compared to the available jobs!. The surest route towards a performing dance career is to get really strong dance training in your high school years from teachers who were, themselves, professional dancers!. Without that strong foundation, majoring in dance is not going to help (female) dancers catch up with their competition!. (It's different for guys!.)

The most successful graduates of college dance programs (again, talking about the female dancers) are the ones who attended the most competitive programs to get into, and who entered pretty much ready to compete head-to-head at professional auditions or near-ready, using college as a kind of "finishing school" to polish their skills before they head out on the audition circuit!.

You should also know that there is a big difference between B!.A!. and BFA dance majors when it comes to time spent training in the dance studio!. Most pre-professional dancers seek out BFA programs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No you don't! I started dancing a year ago by self teaching!. I'm now the captain for dancing at my school!. I've found my body is very rigid & therefore good at doing robot movements!. I guess you have to find the best movements for yourself and concentrate on perfecting that!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
