There are a couple of options (other than dancing for your school which I know my high school went to competitions)

I used to cheer and dance for an "All-Star" gym!. They had both cheer and dance teams who did nothing but compete!. It was an amazing experience but they only take up though high school students!. To find a gym like this I would just google your city/state or area and "all star dance" and you will find their websites!. To find out who are the best just watch competitions when they come on TV (use tvguide!.com) and you'll see them!.

Option 2 is a traditional studio, which is probably not where that youtube team was from!. Studios have recitals once or a few times a year!. Those are fun too but they aren't competitions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To perform on a stage or even compete then you should definitely consider joining either a studio or maybe your school's dance team!. I personally like studios better but that's just my experience!. I would say there is a very good chance you will not be able to compete your first year dancing if you join a studio but overall you'll probably get better training!. If you work hard then you might even be able to compete after only one year!. I know it's been done!. If you want to be a good dancer just make sure you join a good studio!. My former dance studio was very mediocre and I needed to get better so I quit and joined a new one where there is soo much opportunity and I am very challenged!. To find a studio in your area go on google or yahoo and type in 'dance studios near whatever city you live in'!. Good luck!. =]

PS!. Don't get discouraged if you get put in a beginner class and you're in with younger kids I started dance kind of late and was put into a beginner class but I quickly proved that wasn't where I was supposed to be so just work hard and be confident!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Check on the internet for local, competitive dance teams that you could try out for!. Or get references from friends or something (if you know anyone who dances!.) Really, you just have to do your research!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
