Question: My daughter is 3 and will start dance in a few weeks!.!.!.
I was wondering what is the norm when it comes to recitals!? Do you bring the child flowers or a gift or what!? Any other info on the whole dance thing with toddlers would be helpful and greatly appreciated!. She'll be taking tap and ballet!.
Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its always kindda un-nerving when toddlers start dancing!. You feel like your entering a completely new world!. Goods news: most of the other parents in her class feel the same way you do! As a dance teacher, I can tell you one of the biggest 'mistakes' parents of dancers this age make is that they dont understand the dress code!. Check with your studio to make sure you know what is expected to be worn in class!. I have my kids wear a basic leotard and pink or black tights, and full sole leather ballet slippers (bloch 225 is my fav for that age)!. Yet, I still have kids who show up in their favorite Tinkerbell Ballerina costume!. While these are extremely cute, they are very distracting to the other kids in class, because everyone wants to talk about the pretty costume!. also - sometimes those costumes have long tutus attached to them and the kids trip over them!. Just make sure you are aware of dress code rules for your child's class!. For recital, flowers or balloons is generally what I see at my recitals!. Go as big or small as you want!. We had a little girls who was about 2!.5 feet tall get so many flowers we couldn't even see her head when she got back in call line!. It was adorable!. Most studios make sure parents are aware of where and when they need to be backstage during the shows to help with costume changes and stuff like that!. Just don't freak out - because it's not going to be as crazy as you think!. Hope you have a wonderful first year of dance!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

At three I would not do flowers!. Be on the look out for a teddy bear in a tutu and save it for her till recital time!. Don't get her too worked up or excited for the recital day!. Make sure her hair is up or away from her face- it looks so much better on stage that way!. A bit of make up helps and is fun for her!. Bright lipstick is good for stage!.
Don't forget your camera, and remember NO flash!. It doesn't work in a theatre, you only end up lighting up the people's heads in front of you!.

Some days she won't want to go to dance class!. Don't be discourage!. Most times they just don't want to stop whatever they are doing at the time!. Bring her to all dance classes unless she is sick!.
When fitting her shoes do it with socks on!. As her feet grow you can remove the socks and only have tights on her feet!. She may make it all the dance year without buying a bigger size tap/ballet shoe!. Don't buy cheap tights at Wal-Mart (although doesn't matter with the shoes at this age) Cheap tights gets runs fast!. Buy a dance tight from Leo's ot other dance brand to last you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I dance all the time and if you want to be amazed by a 3 year old then you wont but you will get a laugh and you will be so proud of your little girl!. my mom always gives me a big bouqut of flowers!. She might be shy or scared on the firsts few classes and might want you to stay but she will be okay!. And if she is upset because she cant do it just tell her everyone starts somewhere and no one is perfect on the first try!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Okay well i was 12 but hteir were a bunch of lil kids too!. Some places will have a place where you can buy flowers!.!.

I was afraid my mom and dad werent' gunna get em any b/c they didnt' know about it!.

But generealyl a small stuffed animal or flowers is good!.

Theres usually a practice the day before the recital for about 2 hours but if there are multiple classes doing it then it could be longer ut you usually don't have to stay if shes only doing one classs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow! I started dance at 3 and was in Ballet and Tap as well, now I help teach the class!.
A lot of parents just buy the kid one single rose or a small bouquet!.
If they do buy a gift its a toy or a new pair of dance shoes!.
also it depends when her recital is!. Ours is in June and a lot of other studios its December!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

flowers are fine and me\aybe a teddy bear or something!. recital are usually around christmas and then there is usually a big recital around the beginning of summer ( there might be one at the end of summer too,but prolly not!.)!. At this 3yrs!. old dancing is usually really laidback, so you don't really need to teach her anything!. Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well I don't really have any experience in this but I think getting something small, like a small bunch of flowers that they like or a small bear or something (if she likes stuffed animals, I know I did when I was her age)!. It will make her feel important but without you going overboard!. Save anything big for when she is a teen doing big roles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

for my dance recitals my parents bring me flowers but im 14 but when i was younger i would get flowers and a bear that had on a leotard with a skirt!.

Flower are suppose to be traditional!. I think the best are roses!. But when I finish a recital I just love to hear how proud my mother is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well bring flowers so she knows she did a good job!. And some little kids do get scared before they go on stage!. Some of them don't mind it!.
