If you dance on wood, you should definitely put rosin on your pointe shoes!. I'm not sure about flat shoes, as I dance on marley and don't use rosin, but I guess that's personal preference!. Marley has enough friction that you don't need rosin!. The only time I use rosin is for performances, as stage floors are generally quite slippery!. I usually don't dance too much at home, but I've never used rosin there!. It would make a very difficult-to-clean-up mess!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The rosin is used to prevent the shoes from slipping on the floor!. It will all depend on how comfortable and good you are in your pointe shoes!. And also what kind of floor you have!.

Our studio used to have a wooden slippery type floor and we always had to put rosin on our shoes otherwise we'd slip and fall!. Now we have a floor actually built for pointe dancers and we don't have to wear rosin anymore which is really nice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I put rosin on my shoes in my pointe class!. The floors at my studio can sometimes be really slippery, so in one of our studios we have a box of rosin and we all step in the rosin before our class!. I think its easier to dance with rosin on your shoes, because there is less of a chance of slipping and falling!. It's not about how slippery your pointe shoes are!.!.its how slippery the floor is!. I also have a rosin box at my home!.!.because my floors at home are also slippery!. It isn't nessacary, some dancers prefer to do it!.!.and some don't!. Sometimes you dont even need it, and i dont think it ruins your floors!.!.!.on the floors at my house it washes right off!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Rosin is a kind of powder that creates more traction between you and the floor!. If you are new to dancing, you can order a free catalog called "Discount Dance Supply!." They sell rosin and you can try various kinds and experiment with what you like best!. Simply spread the powder (BTW- I reccoment the powder kind) over a hard surface and step into it!. Rub it into your shoes and you should start to notice you are slipping less! Hope I could help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

personally i don't use any rosin

i don't think it's necessary for you to use!.!.!. if your shoes are too slippery, try another brand or get new shoes; slipping is usually caused when your shoes are so old that they get worn down and slick

Only if the stage/floor is super slippery!. If it isn't, there's really no need!.
At home I'd probably put rosin on because common wooden household floors are slippery as hell and you could seriously hurt yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You only put rosin on ballet shoes when they are very slippery!.
I guess you could, but it might ruin your floor!.
Hope I helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's not completely necessary to, but it will help you not to fall on your face!. Hahahahaha!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
