Hi!

I have done all of these styles so here is what I know and some interent definitions!

Jazz is a style similar to hip hop but it has more focus on technique and takes a lot of the technique from classical ballet!. It is usually danced to with modern music!.

Modern and contempory are the same style of dance!. They are simply different names!. Contempory and modern are both to portray emotion and tell a story!. The have both got 'modern' body shapes and modern dance moves!. It is usually danced to songs with no words and mainly just sounds!.

Lyrical danicng is what you would see in a big broadway musical! It has big extravegent actions and is danced to loud dramatic music! I love doing this sort of dancing!.

Here is the definitions I found on the net!.

Wikipedia: jazz dance
Jazz dancers!.Jazz dance is an umbrella term that can refer to several related dance styles!. All of them are connected via common roots, namely tap, ballet, jazz music, and African-American rhythms and dance

Modern (or contemporary) is a term widely used in America and Britain to denote theatrical dance which is not based on the academic school of classical ballet

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques!. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion!. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music!.

Hope this helped!

lyrical expresses emotion
modern is a type of ballet with non-traditional movements, contemporary is much like modern but i find is a little closer to jazz!. jazz i would label is the most technical form not so much a story or emotion but a dance to music if that makes senceWww@QuestionHome@Com
