i had that same problem! except i made varsity in 7th grade!. but i got to compete!

Here are some tips that helped me:
-drive, dedication, and passion!. do NOT give up
-practice a dance for 1 hour everyday [new dance every week even if you have to make up your own]
-take gymnastics classes!. public and private
-get together with the one of the upper classmen on the squad and pratice stunts, dances, gymnastics, and cheers!.
-get on the trampoline! it helps you with jumps and flips!.
-go to the gym at least 3 times a week!. you'll build muscle you need to lift people!.
-do yoga!. it will help control stress!.
