Demi-pointe shoes help to improve your technique and strength!. They help you learn to push through the floor with the entire foot!. And it helps to learn the importance of "toe, ball, heel" and flexibility of the foot!. It also helps raise the arch of the foot, which we all know is helpful when dancing on pointe!. If you don't learn demi, usually dancers have a difficult time going onto pointe!.!.!.for instance: doing a releve' from first position into su su!. You don't want to "hop" or "jerk" into it!.!.!.!.demi helps to improve the strength it takes to get to that position!.

Wearing a simple demi-pointe ballet slipper (canvas or leather, full sole or split sole) is usually required at most dance/arts schools!. Going straight to pointe w/o learning the basics on demi make you prone to injury and poor technique!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i don't!. i think it's fine once you have enough practice with the soft shoes that your ankles are strong enough to support you on pointes!. i like pointes, they are challenging but it's what all ballet dancers looking forward to, right!?
so you don't need demi-pointe shoes!. it's okWww@QuestionHome@Com
