i have been dancing since i was 2 and a half too!. I want to get into acing and singing!. I thought i should stay with dance for a while but then i began to hate it more and more!. I noticed that i started getting worse at singing and acting when i was at dance all the time and couldn't practice very much!. If acting is what you want to do, go for it!. Don't let ballet hold you back if it's not what you want to do!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have to ask yourself certain questions:
- Will ballet be your career when you grow up!?
- Do you want to teach it as a side job!?
- Do you want to do something else with your dancing such as branching off to hip hop or performing in musical theater!?
- is your dancing just a hobby!?

If you are going to start acting professionally, will it be in musical theater or acting in movies!?

At the age of eleven, you still have a ways to go!. Instructors do not teach you all the movements of ballet until you are at a mature age, especially if you are female and studying pointe work!.

At this point, you will have to weigh acting and dancing!. You can be a jack of all trades (master of none) or specialize at a category and be the best at it!.

If you are bored with ballet, you might even want to consider taking a break from it for maybe a year or so!. While you are practicing in musical theater/acting/drama, you can maintain your skills by practicing your ballet to the side!. This way, once you get back into ballet, you will not be rusty!.

Best wishes to your future career!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Take advice from someone who has been there!. I danced for 6 years and started taking pointe classes my last year of dance at the age of 10!. I performed in The Nutcracker where I had to audition with SEVERAL other girls!. I too like you became burnt out for all the classes I was taking and performances I was doing so I decided I wanted to persue gymnastics instead!. I did gymnastics for 10 years and was succesful at it, but I always missed dancing!. I am now 28 years old and have started dancing again and wish I would have never quit!. You are young and have a lot of potential to go somewhere with your dancing career!. Acting will always be there and you can take drama classes starting in middle school and high school!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you get to like grade 8 then you can quit and you will be recognised as being outstanding at something!. Everybody and their next door neighbour wants to be an actress!. there are loads of amazingly beautiful people out there too!. You are facing stiff competition and the ballet can be a way to help your acting!. You could be in a movie like ballet shoes or something dance related!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since you've already gotten this far, you shouldn't quit now!. I know sometimes sports get boring, but when you try to make it fun and you practice, it get's better=) If your dragging your self to class, and your purposely doing steps/jumps wrong, then quit ballet, but I'm sure you can get support from your parents, teacher, and friends and it will all work out! Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I had exactly the same problem and when I was 7 yrs old I quit ballet and started freestyle, it's easier to learn (in my opinion anyway!) and I feel that soon I might be dancing on the big stage, in front of thousands!
Now I'm glad I left ballet!

I hope the best for you honeyWww@QuestionHome@Com
