Street Dancing is an umbrella term for different dance styles that originate not in a formal dance studio and heavily rely on freestyle!. Street dancing basically originates in the street and here are no choreography classes in the street so freestyle is always a huge part!.

At first most street dances get looked down upon as a fad dance, but if they stay around long enough, they are eventually granted respect and some even make it from the street to a studio!. Breakdancing better known as bboying started when DJs on the street were playing for block parties and put a 'break' in their music!. People enjoyed this and created dance moves to the break in the beat!. Out of this evolved bboying!.

Here are some other street dances:

LOCKING : Locking is THE FIRST ever hiphop dance!. Not to be confused with popping, two seperate styles!. Coming from the 1960s!. Pure street!. So OLD SCHOOL You dont see much of it today!.

POPPING: A West Coast dance from the 1970s that is about illusion and poping your body by flexing your muscles!. They also added waving and boogaloo and robot to make it more interesting!. Popping is also an umbrella term for so many street styles we refer to as "funk-styles"

BBOYING/BGIRLING: Breaking evolved on the east coast as a streetdance!. Started in the hoods of the bronx!.!.!.bboy also stands for bronx boy!. You can now lean it in a studio!.

KRUMPING: The most recent of these street dances!. I beleve it is from the 1990s!. Sharp hard movement sometimes looks violent but it is actually religously related!. Its an acronym for Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise!.

HOUSE: a style from the 80s that revolves around footwork and feeling the music!. Was not developed in studios and is used a lot in hiphop without people even knowing it!.
