Question: Dance teacher or what!?!!?
Me niece has been taking classical french ballet since she was 3, she recently just switch studios to classical Russian ballet!. But, her mom has told me her daughter is not enjoying one teacher there!. She told me that teacher started out nice, but then started getting knees straight by slapping them!. She has said he slaps or hits something to fix it, when he does slap she says it doesn't heart, but there is some pain!. She said rarely it's really really painful! The mom has talked to the teacher, but he still does it!! What should she do!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sounds like he's old school, but what really surprises me is that he is teaching a girl!. When I was taking ballet centuries ago (literally - we are talking 1970s here *grin*) I had a Bolshoi trained instructor!. She never taught boys - she would even turn male dancers from the National Ballet of Canada away!.
This teacher is not going to change his methods!. So your niece is either going to learn quick (that way he'll stop slapping her) or her mother is going to have to look for a new school for the child!.
The question to ask: is your niece uncomfortable with the discipline or is she frustrated by her inability to meet his standards!. If dance is what she wants and she feels that she will gain from this man's instruction then she should stick it out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
If your niece is happy there, she should stay!. If she seems more bothered than comfortable, they should find another studio for her where the experience is a good and positive one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
learning the hard way could make her into a world class ballerina some day,my dad used to hit my hands whenever i play the wrong beats on the drums when i was 5 yrs old,now i'm 27 and i'm not world class but i make money out of music,i'm a music producer in a small record company!.!.i think ya get the morale!.!.!.i think its never right to hit a girl,ya should go talk to the teacher,and maybe go to class with ya niece and watch her!.!.!.then maybe that dude would lay his hands off ya niece!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
