Look in the mirror and do a tendu in second position!. Can you see your heel!? Then you are turned out!.

Do a tendu to the back!. Do you see your heel!? You are not turned out!.

Do one to the front!. If you see your heel, you are turned out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

for my dance girls, when i'm teaching them a turnout, i usually put a sticker on their heel!.!.!.when they're dancing- i ask if they can see their sticker in the mirror!.!.!.

turnout is simply "turned out" as in, your toes turn outward!. it's easy to get when in a standing position!.!.!. but a true "turn out" comes from the hip/buttocks area!.

when you're moving across the floor etc!. focusing on the turnout from that area of the body, as well as controling your toes should help!.

but your teacher is right!.!.!. just like not everyone can roll their tongue- not everybody is made to "turnout!." But- usually the "heel" of your foot should be present to the spectator- so you can see the full extension of the foot/leg!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My ballet mistress told us all to stand with our feet in parallel, heels touching, and then in one quick motion, just bring your toes out!.

Don't WORK at it though!.
Just do it, and wherever your toes stop is where your turnout is!.

In froggy position, it's ideal to have your hips on the ground, with your feet touching your butt && on the floor!. && obviously your knees to the side like a frog!.

Just keep stretching, and when you've reached that position, your turnouts perfect!. :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can just feel it!. You should know, if you're an experienced dancer if you are turned out!. If you don't know, ask an instructor to look at you during a combination or at barre!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

simple - lie on your bed flat on your back - let your feet hang off the edge!. Most peoples feet point up - a dancers feet will turn out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
