Look under 'dance' in the phone book and get prepared for doing a lot of ringing up!
Don't worry about being a beginner; it is undoubtedly daunting but teachers are really encouraging if they see that you're willing to learn and work towards improving (who knows, you could have a natural knack at it, too)
also once you find a class, don't be disheartened if you feel like dying the day after!. I've come back to dancing after several years off and with my first lesson last year I could hardly move the day after!. Nine months later and I'm doing the splits!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Visit some dance schools!. Look in the phone book if you don't know of any!. You should be allowed to observe a class!. Talk to some of the students, find out how long they've been there!. Ask the teacher if you could take one trial class free!. Don't sign any contracts!. You should be allowed to pay monthly or weekly for as little or as long as you like!.

Look for a well-organized class that begins and ends on time!. There should be a logical progression and structure to the class!. Does the teacher help all the students or does she seem to favor a few!? Is the teacher fit and can she do the steps or does she just sit there and tell people what to do!. Do the students understand the steps!? Do they seem to enjoy being there!? Look for a clean, well-lit facility!. Does it have a raised dance floor!? (This is easier on the ankles and knees in the long-term)!. Visit 3 or 4 schools before you make a decision!. If you know anyone at school or work who takes dance lessons (or takes their child to dance lessons), ask them what dance school they go to!.

also check with your parks and recreation department, some of them have dance programs at reasonable prices!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
