-Both styles of dance
-Both use music
-In both you have to keep in time with the music
-Both include jumps
-Both incorporate balance
-Both include turns

Differences:
Ballet
-Ballet has set positions
-Ballet has strict dress code
-Ballet has a more set technique
-Ballet generally uses classical music
-Ballet is graceful and airy

Hip hop
-Hip hop is laid back
-There are not set positions
-Hip hop is "down and dirty"

They don't have ANY similarities! Ballet is technique and poise, hip-hop, has NO technique, and NO poise at all!
