Question: Could I get into this!?
I am auditioning at a performing arts school!. I really want to go but my family doesn't have enough money so I would need a full scholarship!. I have been dancing everyday since I was little and I know that I am good enough!. (not trying to sound shallow) but I am worried about my grades!. I get b's and c's in school but I am a really good dancer!. Could I get in!? What do you usually need to get into a school like that!? It's pretty exclusive and I'm worried!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Kieran,

It depends strongly on for what sort of school you are attempting to gain a scholarship!. Generally, to get into a performing arts school, you need to have the following:

PASSING GRADES!.
Obviously, you need passing grades to get into a Performing Arts School!. Your grades are passing!. Granted, they aren't perfect and you could improve to liken your chances of a full scholarship, but if you are a phenomenal dancer, it might not matter!.

TALENT AND TECHNIQUE!.
To get into a performing arts school, you need to have musicality and grace!. What makes you stand out in an audition is if you add your own elegance and grace to the dance!. Don't change the choreography, just throw yourself into the dance and really be a part of it!. Judges really notice the elegant dancer!. In addition, your technique needs to be absolutely impeccable, especially if you're looking for a scholarship!. You need to be the best one in the audition room, and the one all the dancers peek at if they forget the combination!. This won't be easy, and I truly suggest going to lots of intensives and technique classes!. To get a scholarship, you need to probably be dancing at least 30 hours a week!.

THE RIGHT ATTITUDE!.
Always stay humble and only show off a little when asked of experience!. I understand your little bit of attitude in this question, because you needed to convey a point!. However, you don't want to walk into an audition and say something like that!. The judges will lose about 50% of their respect for you just like that!. That's not to say, however, that you shouldn't be confident, forward, and outgoing, but never go overboard!. Just give an aura and keep the words out of your mouth unless asked!.

A STRONG BALLET UNDER- OR FULL TRAINING!.
If you want to get into this school, you need at least 6 years of hard-core ballet training!. It's just a prerequisite that all schools look for!. You might be trying to get in for ballet -- I don't know -- but either way, you want a strong training in ballet!.

Dropping my professionalism for two seconds, you rock!. I love guy dancers!. They're some of the most attractive and nice men I know!. Not only that, but guy dancers have a larger chance of being noticed and accepted into schools, seeing as there are so few of them!.

Anyway, I recommend studying and working focusing extra hard this summer on your technique and your grades!. Schools always like good grades, but they're not essential!.

Hope this helped!. Remember, always feel free to contact me with further questions and for more details!.?Www@QuestionHome@Com

OMG!!!!! I found myself asking myself that same question when I auditioned at a performing arts school!. (except I have all A's!. Oh, and trust me, your not shallow, I felt the same way)!. Anyways, grades usually need to be about a C or above, check! You need the good and high energy addittude that shows (sorry if I misspell), check! A positive look at yourself that also shows, check! The talent, check! The ability to show that you WANT to learn more (key ingredient!. The talent is also a key ingredient as well), you check this one!. Anything else is extra, oh and don't act shallow, even if your not!. They hate that!.

Well, I made it in to the school, but I sing, act, and dance, and I can only do two, so I thought I'd be good enough for only two!. BUT, I made it PERFECTLY in each one!. The cool part, TEACHERS are fighting over me! They might for you two!Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i go to judith which is a pretty tough school!.
they dont really care about grades in the beginning of the season, but towards the middle they make you take in your reprt card and if you have any c's then your temporarily kicked out of the school!.
so you might and might not get in depends on the strictness of your school!.
i almost didnt get in cause i had a c and they ask to see your most recent report card before trying out!.
so yeah!.
best of luck to you though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If the school you're auditioning for has academic requirements, you may have a problem!. But if it's an open audition, then it wouldn't matter if you are the world's worst student - it's what happens on the day in the studio that will matter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you may or you may not all i can say is try to improve your grades best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
