Question: Years in ballet before lyrical!?
well im taking ballet now and I switched studios!. When I first got there, I asked one of the teachers when I would be able to stary lyrical classes!. And she said you need more training in ballet first!. Well now i've been doing ballet for 2 years!. I was wondering, how many years of ballet would i need to start taking lyrical classes, becuase i loveeee lyrical!. But i guess i need to be a little more flexible!. I am flexible but not as flexible as the girls who are in lyrical!. so how many years would i need!? thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i actually went to straight to lyrical without ballet!. now i take both but i'm very sure that you would be perfectly fine starting with lyrical now!.

your flexibility may be the only thing holding you back because in order to do lyrical, flexibility is key-i'm naturally really flexible so maybe thats why it was easier for me!. if your techer said you needing more training, then keep ballet going for about another year but work super hard on expanding your flexibility and you should be all set:]

It depends on how much you are working in class, and how much you're practicing outside of class!. When I began ballet as a small child, I practiced outside of class for about half an hour a day!. By the time I was a pre-teen, I had excellent balance and flexibility!. When I was 14, I was accepted into the Joffrey Ballet!. I took classes every day, and worked on flexibility and core strengthening outside of class for about two hours a day!. I still dance today, and practice about an hour a day!. You could also get good experience by expanding your dance repetoire: jazz, modern and tap all have elements of ballet, and can help your flexibility and core strength!.
