Question: Too Heavy To Dance!? Need Help With Weight!.!.!.!?
I'm 18, turning 19 in Sept!., I'm 5'10 1/2" and I'm a size 17!. I've been active in marching band for 4 years!. I have great arm and shoulder strength from that and strong thigh muscles too!. I've taken like!.!.!. 2 dance lessons before when I was young but couldn't continue because my parents didn't have the money!. I still remember a lot from back then, and I've learned some new ballet terms over the years as well, so it's not like I'm completely "out of the loop"!. I've been told I have an excellent arch too!. I know chances of going pro are slimmer than none, but I've always wanted to just learn how to do Ballet, and maybe go on to Pointe someday!. The college I'm about to go to offers beginner Ballet classes, and I'm going to take them this coming fall!. My only problem is my weight!. I'm big, but it's not like I'm covered in rolls or anything!. I have a very flat stomach (you can feel my hip bones), but my inner thighs are kinda embarassing!.!.!. Any tips on losing weight before mid-August!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are not too heavy to dance!. Go to the class and dont even worry your head for one second that you look such a way or something is wrong with this part, etc!. If you want to lost weight for health reasons then by all means go for it!. Dance will help you if you work hard at it!. But there is no weight/size requirement to ballet!. Take the Ballet Class and remember everytime you walk in that door its a dream come true!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no specific weight needed to take any form of dance, excluding pointe, since it requires a light weight to ensure minimum damage occur to your feet!.

I know many dancer who don't have a perfect body shape, and they are excellent dancers!. They are excellent at lyrical, and have great personalities in jazz!.

My opinion: don't care about your weight, and don't try to change it!. You were made unique and different from everyone else, and you should be proud of that!. And don't you let anyone tell you otherwise!.

If you like dance so much, go ahead, take it!. Become the best dancer you can be!. Prove that people of all body shape can be equally talented!.

I hope this was helpful! Good luck! ;DWww@QuestionHome@Com
