Question: I want to be on pointe, but I don't know if I'm good!.!.!.!.!?
OK, me and my twin sister are doing ballet classes!. We used to for 3 years around 3 years of age, but then we quit because "our feet hurt"!. Now, we started again around 13/14!. Normally you would take Ballet 1-2 for a year, Ballet 1-2 and 2-3 for a year, Ballet 2-3 and 3-4 for a year, and so on!. But WE went from 1-2 for one year, and started 2-3 half of the same year!. next year we are doing 2-3 and 3-4, so I guess we are good because it only took like a third of the time to get to that level than normal people!.

I love it with all my heart, but I don't really know if I'm good enough, or if my teacher just is putting us up levels because my mother told her we wanted to be on pointe!.!.!.!. Advice!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your teacher will talk it through with you when s/he starts to see your strength and control developping sufficiently for pointe!. You can actually ask her/him directly too!. Teachers are humans and s/he will respect you for being keen and motivated!. If they are a good teacehr they will tell you the truth!.

You do need to be doing at least 3 solid ballet technique classes a week before you even consider pointe work!. Maybe you can discuss taking that many classes or more with your mum!?

A good website with discussion and encouragement for classical ballet dancers is 'ballet talk for dancers' - join and get your mum (and sister) to join!. Read the threads about pointe, including 'facts of life about pointe' etc!.

you seem really motivated, I wish you many years of happy dancing :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

i do not think it is a case of bieng good enough to go "en pointe" if you have progressed your grades as you should have then it is just natural progression, the main facture with pointe work is your legs and feet muscles bieng strong enough to lift you and keep your weight en pointeWww@QuestionHome@Com
