Tell the dance studio all about your experience as a dancer!.

Unless it is a very bad studio, they will never put you on pointe immediately!. If you are starting after a long time you will have to take for about a year at least to get pointe shoes!.

The amount of pain depends on how strong your feet are!. The longer you prepare in pre-pointe classes for strengthening your feet, the less it tends to hurt!.

It also depends on the general structure on your foot!.

Many dancers get used to it after their first couple of classes, and it should hurt less as your technique improves!.
If you take many classes per week, pointe shoes will probably hurt more only because of the blisters and such!.

shoes range from 30 dollars to 90 dollars a pair!.
Don't worry, and have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The school shouldn't put you on pointe immediately if they have any responsibility at all!. Pointe is an advanced technique, you have to build up to it, or you'll injure yourself!. The pointe slippers are designed to support your foot and help it bear your weight on pointe, it shouldn't hurt if it is fitted properly and you are dancing with correct technique!.

One of my ballet teachers expressed the opinion that it is a mistake to put girls on pointe too young!. He felt that making girls dance on pointe while their bodies were still maturing placed unnatural stress on the foot, and the practice of doing so ruins many promising dancers!. Take this advice into consideration, and delay your point training or at least take it slowly, so you don't deform your feet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you can get "soft" pointes and "hard" pointes, i used soft for warming up excercises and at home when practising!.
Does going en pointe hurt!? yes it hurts like hell !! i found soaking my feet in a solution of warm water and surgical spirits for 30 mins before class, hardened/numbed my toes to much of the pain did not stop my toes or feet from suffering though!.

You can also break your hard pointes in by careful use of a hammer, but do not hit too hard or you will completely shatter the glue and render your pointes useless :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

no, you probably won't go on pointe as soon as you start!. when you stop ballet for awhile, it might take a little to work off the weight and up the strength and flexibilty!. maybe in another 1/2 year, if you are good enough!.

pointe shoe vary in $$!. you can get horribly "made in china" ones for like $8, but better ones are usually around $75-$100!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

ok, here are a few tips

1: don't start back into pointe right away!. you will need to re-build that muscle!.

2: let your instructer know that you ar interested in pointe!. they might have some advice because they can see you dance

3: NO> pointe shoes don't hurt!. once you brak them in, you shouldn't get blisters!. be sure you have the right size and fit of shoe for you!. also: try lambs wool TOE PADS!. they are great for beginers, because they let you feel the floor!.

i hope this helps!.

best of luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

I doubt you'll be en pointe as soon as you go back!.!.!.you'll probably have a bit of time to get back into ballet before your teacher decides you're ready!. But it depends on how advanced you were when you first quit! I'm 13 too and i have been en pointe for three years so!.!.!.

You get used to pointe shoes, go to Wal-Mart and get some medical tape not the cloth-like kind, the plastic-y kind!.!.!.i don't know how to explain it!! Its like an orange-ish tan color but anyways, wrap at least your big toes and your pinky toes (seprately, of course!) with it!! It helps a ton!! And use lambs wool in your shoes! If you have the tights with the holes in the bottoms roll up your tights, put the wool on your toes and then put the tights back over it, then put your shoes on that works really well!. Make sure the wool molds to your toes, put it on the same way every time! And make sure you put your shoes on the same feet every time too! Mark the bottoms in pen with a L and an R!.

As for cost, I'm not exactly sure!.!.!.I haven't really paid attention to that!!! But I know they aren't cheap!Www@QuestionHome@Com

They don't hurt that much!. At my dance school, they make every student visit the physio for about two months before and after they start pointe work!. I think this is a very good policy - they will give you excercises to do in order to strenghthen your weaker aspects of your technique!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

pointe shoes don't hurt at all!.

or maybe it's just me!. i started ballet when i was 6 and went on pointe at 9!. i have never had any trouble whatsoever with pain or uncomfort due to pointe shoes!. maybe i just have a good weight, i am 12 years old, 5'1 and 70 lbs!. and i have good strength and flexibility and i am really great at ballet, so i could just be lucky with pointe!.

my pointe shoes are around $80 because i dance alot and like shoes with good wear and support!. i have danced lead in so many ballets and need to dance constantly so my shoes can't be the cheap kind!.

any more ballet questions i will answer, my name is grace michelle!. i am an amazing talent little girlWww@QuestionHome@Com
