Question: Beginner ballet for an adult - questions!?
I'm 27 and have always wanted to learn ballet!. Tomorrow I'm going for my first class! It's an adult beginner class!.

What should I expect!? I'm nervous that even though it's a beginner's class, I still won't be able to keep up!

also, I have knee-length yoga shorts and a tank-top to wear!. Are bare feet okay!? I don't have ballet shoes yet and won't be able to get any for a while!.

Thanks! Any info would be great! I'm really nervous!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ballet is a great activity and im glad you decided to join!. Expect many new adult dancers as well, that may not have ever taken dance!. Some teachers may be strict, or try to make you get it right when you dont understand!. Talk to the teacher, tell her what you dont understand or need to go over a couple more times!. Ballet takes a while to learn!.

As for the yoga shorts, and tanktop, they will be ok, for the first few classes, but try to get a leotard and pink tights, as they help the teacher see your movements better and can help you advance easier!. You should get ballet shoes as soon as possible!. Its fine for the first few classes, but you may want to see if the place you are dancing at supplys rental shoes!. If you cannot get any ballet shoes, try socks!. Barefoot ballet is OK, but you cant move your foot along the floor as well as you could with ballet shoes!. As a last resort, use barefoot dancing!.

You will be able to keep up, just pay attentiona to the teachers, and dont goof off!.

Hope it helps and have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dress code is usually relaxed for adult classes and your teacher can see your lines in that outfit, so thats fine!. Youll need shoes ASAP, but for the first class you might want to bring some socks to dance in!. If its a hard wood floor, you dont want to to tendus on that!
Youll likely start with a barre routine to warm up, and maybe do some adagio center floor to introduce the positions of the body!. The beauty part is that when you dance, its wuality over quantity, so if you have to do a leg lift, for exampple, its much preferd to have it look nice at 90 degrees than crap at 180!. You can do it at your own pace!.

Have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't be nervous!. It'll be fun! If you have a hard time keeping up, you should ask your teacher to clarify the steps!.I guess it's okay to go barefoot if you don't have your ballet shoes yet!. Good luck! I hope you enjoy your ballet classes! ΓΌWww@QuestionHome@Com

you should not be nervous but most dance studios require ballet shoes, leotard, and tights so you might want to check for a dress codeWww@QuestionHome@Com
