You maybe able to teach yourself hip hop with a few tips from a friend or even learn the basics of Modern and Lyrical but NOT POINTE!!

Ballet if very particular and pointe can be down right dangerous if you don't have the right technique down!.

No one should teach themselves ballet and Definitely not pointe!
They will break and ankle!Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is no way someone can teach themselves pointe!. They may be getting up on their toes!. But the are not doing ballet en pointe!.
Have you been watching all the dance shows on TV now!. What do the judges say over and over again!. You don't have enough technique!. That is only learned through years of practice, being taught by a professional dance teacher!.

My daughter just switched dance academies!. I was reading the dance teacher's bios!. All but one had a college degree in dance!.

Not only is it unhealthy and dangerous- it is an art form that needs to be learned through those who have already done it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think it depends on the dance style like popping or hip-hop i think is fine but ballet ,acro or jazz not a good idea a girl who used to go to my studio was in jazz && tried jazz drags && fell & broke her jaw! idk if you wanna risk it i think its your decision!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I guess you could do an independent study after you have learned good technique and ALL the basics, but pointe can really be dangerous and people could hurt themselves!. I just think dance teachers are there for a reason!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

SELF TAUGHT ON POINTE!
Not a good idea! I've been dancing for 7 years and i don't think i'm even ready for pointe!. Because someone who is self taught might not know whats good and bad!. They might be on the kuckles rather then the tips of your toes!. I just don't think it's a good ideaWww@QuestionHome@Com
