Question: 13 and want to learn ballet fast!?
Well, like I want to go in to point as quickly as possible!. I want to prove to my friend that I can do something if I put my mind to it!. She does ballet by the way!. I know the begginings boring and stuff and it takes a while to do the basics!.

But, I use to do gymnastics and I could go like 200 degrees on my splits a few years ago!. but i quit and i rejoined a few monthes ago and I can still do 180 splits!. I really love gymnastics and I think I'd love ballet because I often find myself doing pleyes and leaps and stuff!.

Sadly, Im not good at any other dancing XDD

But I'm about average intelligence but I have great determination for this!. I can probably do 1-2 days a week!. Most likely one!. So how long until I can go on point!? BTW, I HAVENT STARTED IT YET BUT I MIGHT IN A FEW MOTNES AFTER SUMMER!.

Oh and she told me that I have to have strong ankles!. We do this thing in gymnastics where we like stand on one foot and go up and down and stuff!. So if I do that every night, willWww@QuestionHome@Com

you sound like you would be really good at ballet you should definatley give it a try it's really good for you and so much fun especially pointe!
it will probably only take you about 9-12 months to get onto pointe if not less! you do need to work very hard though even if you do gymnastics or not!. like you said it will be boring at first doing the basics but you need to learn that stuff and it will benefit you!. it will also be hard to start off as in gymnastics yu are used to bending yur ack backwards were as in ballet in the frst few grades it needs to be arched foward but i m sure you'll do it you sound very determined! good luck! hope you do do ballet and get onto pointe quick

You should be talented at ballet!. You already know the basics, so that's good! All that's really hard is learning the french names!.

Since you're already 13 and have lots of muscle, you should get on pointe pretty fast!

I take ballet and everyone @ my studio 12 or over is on pointe (EXCEPT FOR BOYS!)Www@QuestionHome@Com

whoa!!! slow down!. If you have never had any formal training before it's going to take you awhile to get en pointe!. Your gymnastics training will deffinitely come in handy but it is not a substitute for real ballet training!. The fastest way to get en pointe is to take as many classes as you can and practice alot!. 1-2 classes a week will NOT get you en pointe!. Most studios require you to take at least 3 classes a week to even consider putting a dancer en pointe!. And don't be in such a hurry!. If you go en pointe sooner than you're supposed to then you will either get injured or you'll have a really difficult time and get discouraged!. I'm not saying it's not possible for you to do this; I didn't get my pointe shoes until I was 15!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yeah you do sound like you can be really good in ballet but i

am in ballet and i can do a 200 degrees split and and my

grand ba-whatever (cant spell it) is above 90 degress but i

am still in junior and it doesn't matter what age and grade it

takes time even if you are in gymanstics and know how to do

this amazing stuff the teachers still have to test your balance

and your body structure and you just cant skip to pointe there

are other things you have to learn than just standing on your

tippy toes and leaping in the air maybe you dont have to start

out in the basics start off in junior ballet and you will learn that

it's more to balelt than thatWww@QuestionHome@Com

I started when I just turned eleven years old, I am fifteen nowand have gone through different sorts of ballet, doing RAD ballet at the moment, but have done ISTD and bits of UTD classes, I think if you want to get on pointe fast go for a RAD school they'll get you on within a year depending on how fast your strength improves!. I do Rad at the moment and have gone up went up onto pointes fast but I don't know if that's just because I had the strength from being taught by a previously good teacher!?!?, according to my friends in other RAD schools they got onto pointe fast!. I was in ISTD for four years and none of my class would have gone on pointe until they were around sixteen, where as some RAD schools get you up faster!. But it does mean being very determined and going to extra one on one classes to catch up to the other girls!. Good Luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I began ballet when i was 11 and was on pointe my 3rd year!.
Being older does not mean that you can't start now! :)

it is good that you are strong from gymnastics but ballet is about long smooth lines not bulky muscle!. Strong ankles are good but that does not mean that you will go straight to pointe, you will need to learn the basics first!. If you are interested try it! Some studios will let you come in a watch a class or even take one class!.!.!. maybe doing that would give you a better idea!. the worst that happens is that you take a few classes and decide that ballet is not for you!

I say go for it! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
