Question: I'm 17, am I too old to start ballet!?
My step mother started when she was like 3, she as been on pointe since she was like 12!. She doesn't dance anymore but she still goes to classes with Margo Marshal here in houston every once in awhile!. I've always found ballet to be so elegant, especially on pointe!. I really want to start taking classes at her studio but I fear I am too old to ever get on pointe which would be my long term goal, is this true!? For reference, I am 17, 5ft 6in, 108lbs, I have very arched feet, and I took modern dance for a year while I was 15 if that counts for anything!. So, would i be too old to start!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your definitely not too old to start, in my Saturday class there was an adult who was a beginner, and my artistic director (basically the boss of the place) at my old ballet school is very fit she has lovely arched feet, but she didn't get on pointe until she was 18!. So you still definitely can still get on pointe because there isn't an age limit, so you'll be able to get on pointe once you have developed some technique, and once your feet are strong enough!. So if I were you I would start taking lessons at that studio and just try your best and you should catch on!. Hope this Helps! Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow, i'm exactly the same as you! I'm 17 right and I did ballet when I was 5 and I always wanted to start back again and I did! I go to an adults ballet class every tuesday night and I love it and have been doing it for 3 terms now! My mum used to be in the Australian Ballet Company and for years I have watched her dance and always wanted to be like that! and now i'm getting my chance, so yeah go for it! NEVER TO OLD is my philosophy! I'm loveing my ballet class, i'm pretty crap but it makes me feel goodWww@QuestionHome@Com

No way! If it's something you wanna do u gotta go for it! i don't think your to old at all 17 is still young!. You should prabably start stretching every day though!. This will improve your dancing(kicks, jumps, etc!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think you are too old!. You will probably never make it quite to what someone who has been doing it since they were young is, but I definitely think you could get very very good at it, it just will be a bit more work!. It helps that you have some background in dance though!.

Good luck and have fun!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No way! You're not even in your prime which would be 28 to 32!. You have a long way to go and you will be great at what you have a passion for!

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i don't think it is ever too late
but you definitely should have started at a younger age so that you can catch on fasterWww@QuestionHome@Com
